Empowerment Resource Center Comprehensive Intervention Clinic
Description
Achieving Better Health Outcomes: One client at a time Since 2003, ERC has provided its programs and services to the general public in the Atlanta metropolitan area, with a specific focus on African-American women, ages 14 and older. ERC's clients are a microcosm of the United States—individuals with children, of diverse religious denominations and beliefs, homeless, recovering from alcohol and drug dependency, in transition from the penal system, victims of domestic violence, limited-English speaking and literacy skills, and/or living in poverty. The majority of ERC's clients are female, ranging in age from 15 to 72, with an average age of 38.6 years. Additionally, clients of ERC are self-reported as 85.2% African-American, 8.0% Caucasian, and 2.1% Hispanics. Furthermore, approximately 20% did not complete high school; 30% are ex-offenders; and 42% has had direct contact with someone infected with HIV.
