UW Alpha Tau Omega
Description
This is the official page of the Gamma Pi chapter at the University of Washington Alpha Tau Omega Since 1865, Alpha Tau Omega has been providing men of true character a complete and rewarding college experience. Here at the University of Washington we pride ourselves on continuing this tradition through social, academic, and personal growth. Our social calendar will allow you to meet new people through fun and rewarding experiences. Our emphasis on scholastic excellence will help ensure your collegiate success. The strength of our brotherhood creates a close fraternal community that builds lifelong friendships and memories. We are committed to recruiting and developing the leaders of tomorrow who will succeed at college and beyond.
Our philanthropy and signature event is a volleyball marathon and this year it is called Spike Duchenne. Spike Duchenne is a volleyball marathon that involves 3 days of straight volleyball played on Alpha Tau Omega's beach volleyball court at the University of Washington. The marathon is an important house tradition and has been taking place for nearly 20 years. This year, we'll be benefiting one of our alumni, Damon Ward, whose son Colin was recently diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Proceeds will go to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, the largest nonprofit organization focused strictly on Duchenne.
The event will kick off on Tuesday, May 15 and will last for 3 days until Friday, May 18. A list of events for the week is as follows:
Tuesday night: Movie night on front deck
Wednesday night: Flare Volleyball
Thursday night: Alumni BBQ
If you would like to view our profile page on Parent Project Muscular Dystropy's website, the link is: www.parentprojectmd.org/spikeduchenne. The site contains a bio on Colin, and also a brief description of Duchenne and how it affects young boys. Also, if you wish to donate, you can do so directly through our profile page, and feel free to send this link out to any friends or family you think might be interested. We would really appreciate all of your support, and with your help we'll be one step closer to giving Colin, and all of the other young boys afflicted with Duchenne, the life they truly deserve.
