So Whats New? - Shimano RT4 Urban/Touring Cleated Shoes! After we received a rather large order of brand new season Shimano Shoes we thought we'd tell you a little about the new arrivals. Starting with the Shimano RT4. Having a shoe you feel you can wear on and off the bike is very much a rarity especially if you want a shoe to commute in and for those leisure rides on a weekend. But with the Shimano RT4 and laced road shoes back in the scene we think this is a winner! Leather built, strong quality lacing to offer quality tension, comfortable inner soles, SPD ready and with a rubber sole meaning you dont have to take off the shoes when you get off the bike. Coming in at £89.99 these shoes can be worn to commute and for road rides as well as carrying an urban look you can wear when off the bike too. 'they have become my go-to shoes' - BikeRumour

Something New - Beetroot in Sport? We've just acquired a new performance/recovery enhancing product, made up of your number 1 favourite vegetable, Beetroot! After looking at the research behind the new product from 'Beet It' we thought it too good to be true. Research shows the Nitrate from concentrated Beetroot enables all the following: Opening Blood Vessels, Increase Blood Flow, Oxygenates The Muscles, Boosts Stamina and Speeds Reaction Time, Speeds Recovery, Reduces Lactic Acid Build Up. Yes all that in one little vegetable, over the next few weeks we're going to be testing this stuff out and giving you an honest review from use on our rides and the benefits we felt so tune in next week to see what we thought!

MTB Trails - Kinlochleven Ciaran Path, Scotland MBR ranked this trail number 1 in 2009 so its no doubt that this ride through Scotland is definitely one that fits the bill. When the heavy Highland cloud descends and you look out over the bleak inky expanse of the Blackwater reservoir, few places can match it for a sense of foreboding. It is worth taking a moment, up there, to imagine the daily toil and the relentless misery before you set off down the hill. Why? Because few trails polarise opinion like the Ciaran Path. For some it is the essence of a wild, natural trail. For the rest, it is a day in hell. If you brave the journey to the Scottish Highlands to challenge this trail we think you should take a deep breath and get ready for one hell of a bumpy ride but one with more thrills than spills!

Well Being Wednesday - Drink! (Water that is) Drinking enough fluid will not only support better riding, but will result in better energy levels while you’re going about your daily life. If you have experienced that foggy-head feeling after a long run it’s usually a sign to drink up. In addition to drinking 1.5-2 litres of water across the day, cyclists should ideally be drinking additional fluid to match any loss during riding. An easy way to work out your need is to weigh yourself pre and post-ride. For each kilo you have lost, you require an additional litre of water, so if a 60-minute ride leaves you 0.5kg lighter then you just require an extra 500ml of fluid in the diet to rebalance things. With just two per cent dehydration resulting in a significant reduction in performance, it’s worth paying attention to this statistic. It’s such a small simple step, but it will make a huge difference. So drink up!
