facebook.comUnicorn..... not the fluffy pencil case type, but the goat footed, goaty bearded, lion tailed, wild woodland creature that can only be tamed by virgins, type.
New Hoots ... now got legs!!
Its been a difficult year, and I've spent quite a bit of it moanin' and whingin' about having tennis elbow. Its still a problem and I have no recently completed carvings to post. So instead I'm posting our sidekick .... Fudge the Sprocker Spaniel. She used to be a total madass but she is now 15years and 8months old. I make that 109 in doggy years. The eyesight is not great and she is virtually deaf. Four dodgy legs with some painful arthritis. She shows a few signs of doggy dementia as she has had two strokes. She doesn't moan or whinge. She just keeps on waggin'. To all friends and family .... Avanti folk, Oss riders and Chainsaw users everywhere .... have a happy Christmas and a pain free 2018 .... Ross, Claire and Fudge the Sprocker.
A couple more herons ... one cypress one walnut
Some residential shrooms ... 9 foot tall
Something Australian I was asked for. I so wanted to carve a Dame Edna .... but it would have been a very long winded joke. So instead a Koala and two fat Kooks.
After 4 months off with tennis elbow I had a poke at this cracked up bit of oak. Still can't carve for more than about four hours without serious grief. Might have to see about one of them injections.
Herons and Kingfishers overlooking the new pond in the wildlife meadow at Ashwood Nurseries, Gift Shop and Tea Room... well, once Tom Woodhall has done some digging!
Sorry to the people who are waiting for a carving. Tennis elbow has slowed me up. It is much more painful than it sounds !! It was even traumatic lifting a pint of Bathams on Saturday. Anyway I managed a brolly holding Wiz.
Oak log bench, in memory of Matthew Greenwood who died aged 21 due to metastatic bone cancer. I'm sure many carvers must lose themselves in deep thought sometimes while carving. I have found myself doing just that a great deal with this piece. I have no idea how parents cope with losing a 21 year old, who had achieved so much and had so much still to give and to experience. Thanks to Alec Burns who commissioned the bench and Emma Jane Burns.... thanks both for the emotional encouragement throughout. The bench is now at Queen Marys School, Walsall. There are references to rowing and piano playing. Some chess pieces and some education. I hope it provides some happy memories to those who were close to him ... best wishes to you.

A couple more woodfolk houses .... and Shroom House Fairy Club. I have absolutely no idea what happens at the Fairy Club.

Never had a piece of Redwood to play with before ... Lush is the terminology I think these days. Must find some more for another go.
