WOLVES SEE OFF LEAGUE LEADERS | 🐺🆚☠️ WOLVERHAMPTON fired a warning to their play-off rivals with a 55-35 demolition of table topping Poole. A bumper bank holiday crowd was treated to a fine night of racing with all seven Wolves riders picking up at least one paid race win. American hotshot Luke Becker got Parrys International Wolves off to a flying start with a stunning inside pass on Jack Holder for an opening race heat advantage. A first shared heat of the night followed with Pirates reserve Nico Covatti picking himself up off the deck to take the chequered flag. Former Wolf Nicolai Klindt then teamed up with skipper Josh Grajczonek for a first Poole heat advantage to level the scores at nine points apiece. Fresh from his play-off heroics in Poland yesterday afternoon, Aussie Sam Masters led home Ryan Douglas to put the Wolves back in the lead with a convincing 5-1 maximum. Skipper Rory Schlein then made up for his third heat error by taking a tapes to flag victory after fighting off the hard-charging Covatti. Thorsell and Becker then made it two heat advantages out of two in an action packed heat six that saw all four riders change places on more than one occasion. Wolves then took advantage of a Ricky Wells exclusion following a big pile-up with three riders hitting the deck to cruise into a 10 point lead at the halfway stage of the meeting. The home dominance continued with another 5-1 maximum in heat 10 as Becker and Thorssell both got the better of Klindt on the opening lap. Masters then held off Aussie counterparts Kurtz and Holder to render Neil Middleditch’s tactical substitute null. Victory was sealed with a third maximum in five races as Schlein bounced back from his previous last place to partner Douglas to his third unbeaten ride on the trot. Yet another two 5-1s sandwiched between a Poole 4-2 followed with Wolves completing another dominant home win ahead of another crucial home meeting next Monday (7.30) against King’s Lynn, as the race for the play-offs well and truly hots up. Top scorer Masters said: “I thought it was going to be a lot tougher and a lot closer than that really. “The track was pretty slick and it normally suits their boys like that but all the boys had some good rides and we all chipped in. “I think we all had one ride we weren’t happy with as well and a couple of the boys were a bit frustrated with their scores - but we still managed to win by a pretty big margin so that bodes well.” WOLVERHAMPTON 55: Sam Masters 11, Luke Becker 9+1, Jacob Thorssell 9+1, Ryan Douglas 8+3, Kyle Howarth 6+1, Nick Morris 6+1, Rory Schlein 6.
