Turkey Triathlon 2017
No less than nine eights and four junior quads for yesterday's Christmas Eights - a great day and well done to the winners! Then Robbie and Joe Sandifer christened the coxed quad "Gordon Sandifer": also a very well-attended event despite the showers.
Thank you to all the competitors, volunteers and spectators who braved the cold to make Walton Small Boats Head a successful day once again, and congratulations to all the winners!

Great talk from Mat yesterday, followed by the christening of the eight "Mat Tarrant". Afterwards the girls went out in the eight, with Mat coaching from the bank.
Get Surrey has published a short online report about the sponsored row at http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/teenagers-take-part-sponsored-row-13610638 . There might be something in the Elmbridge edition of the Surrey Advertiser tomorrow (15 September), but we'll have to wait and see about that for now.
Great news from British Rowing - our alumni Angus and Annie are both off to Sarasota for the World Rowing Championships. Have a great time! https://www.britishrowing.org/2017/09/two-more-crews-added-to-great-britains-world-rowing-championships-team/
Some photos from today's sponsored row, organised by the juniors in memory of Gordon. It was a very impressive turnout! Thank you to everyone who sculled or supported the event. If anyone would still like to contribute, the link to the Justgiving page is https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/gordon-memorial-sponsored-row
Congratulations to Mat Tarrant and Oli Stanhope, both of whom have rowed for Walton - good luck in Sarasota!
The J14s, and some of the older juniors, are planning a sponsored row from Runnymede to Walton on Sunday September 10th, to raise money for a boat or equivalent in memory of Gordon Sandifer. Many members already generously supported the Gordon memorial at his funeral or wake, but if you know anyone who would like to contribute, or to support the juniors in their effort, you can do so through https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/gordon-memorial-sponsored-row.

Not quite the boats of Townsville harbour, pretty awesome submarine houseboat nonetheless. Pretty chilly for a run this morning, missing my sportsbra run on the beach @julietteafoster
Stunning sunset along the Thames.
