Farah Ishaq - Artist
Description
Mixed media artist and print maker based in Walthamstow, East London.
A printmaker at the core, I enjoy the process of making art as much as the outcome – often the ink, paint, blocks, paper becoming something other than what I anticipated.
As a journalist of 20 years, I inherently love the use of words, connections, paradoxes and subtext. I oscillate from wood and lino cuts to elements of intaglio, collage, ceramic, embroidery and 3D additions.
I work quickly and spontaneously for the most part, working around or leaving ‘imperfections’ to become part of its end result.
I have exhibited in multiple themed group shows in London and Germany over the past 12 months and taken on many aspects of idea generating, organising, curating, hanging and invigilating for exhibitions in spaces which range from galleries, cafes and shop windows to community spaces and churches.
I like to work on several ideas at once, and true to my journalist years, love a short deadline to produce work that draws on quick fire inspiration.
