Do something new……There’s a new display in Wakefield One’s atrium which includes a ballot box and a pie cart! The ballot box was used in Pontefract for the first ever secret ballot. The pie cart was used in the 1860’s in a corrupt Wakefield, when pork pies were handed out to encourage votes. In connection with this we have a great, FREE, Adult 16+, one of a kind workshop with Jade Sarson, the artist responsible for the artwork in Potwallopers, the Museum’s new comic about Pontefract’s secret ballot. Come along and create your own comic strip with Jade’s excellent tuition. It’s at Pontefract Castle, Saturday 17 March 12pm – 2pm. To book visit www.wakefield.gov.uk/MuseumEvents :)
