After 22 years of keeping the vermin down "Willow" the Clovery and farm cat sadly had to be put to sleep yesterday after a short illness. She was a real character, always after a share of someone's lunch despite being more than capable of catching her own. She caught her last mouse just a few weeks ago. Her favourite perch was on top of a bale of straw and she had recently learned how to do "high 5s". We will all miss her.

It looks like the culprits are mice not rabbits eating the crab apples judging by the tiny teeth marks on apples close to the mouse holes. Its all part of the diversity we are hoping to encourage in Clovery. In saying that I have put off sowing my wild flower seeds until the spring in case the mice eat them too!

We've got a good crop of crab apples at Clovery this year but I have to be quick to collect them before the ground "nibblers" get to them!. There may even be enough for some jelly. The rowan and whitebeam trees have got plenty of berries for the birds too.

We've started work on the new meadow area. Fingers crossed the wildflower seeds will grow and give us an extra choice.
