Boy & Bear Jewellery design and handmake keepsake charms from your loved ones hand or foot prints in Sterling Silver  Hello lovely visitors to Boy & Bear, we make keepsake jewellery from your loved ones prints as well as a few other beautiful things

I am Judith, owner and creator of Boy & Bear Jewellery. I live in Shropshire with my husband, our dog (aka the Bear) and our 2 young sons hence the name Boy & Bear. I've always loved silver jewellery and enjoy creating so after the birth of our first boy, when I was unable to return to work due to ill heath, I founded this little business and I've enjoyed every second of being a business owner ever since. On this page you'll find examples of the pieces I have created but because every item is bespoke yours will be personal to you and a one-of-a-kind keepsake.

You'll find information all about us, our processes and our products below but please do get in touch if you'd like any more information before ordering, we'd love to hear from you.

All of our products are crafted in sterling silver and hand-polished to ensure a mirror shine finish (brushed silver is a favourite here though so if you'd prefer that just let us know). Every piece is individually made with love so each one will be unique.

To take hand/foot prints we will send you an inkless printing kit with full instructions included. For fingerprints we will send you a moulding kit which is really simple to use and will more than likely remind you of your childhood; creating shapes with playdough or saltdough!

Hand and footprints are miniaturized to fit the charms so no print is too large or too small. We then impress the print into something called “Metal Clay”, fire it in a kiln and finish it by hand with lots of time, care and love before popping it in a gift box and sending it home.

Fingerprint charms can be created from anyone’s prints although babies younger than 18 months don't have their prints developed quite enough to take an impression so we'd recommend you wait until around 2 years to allow them to develop and deepen making the impression more noticeable. You can take an impression of a younger baby's prints however, you might not see the swirls and whirls of their print in the finished piece but you will always have a record of how tiny their fingers were.

We are also able to create charms using your loved ones handwriting, signature or drawing so please do get in touch if there is anything you would like to immortalise in silver.

Our rings are made to your size and are not adjustable, don't worry we'll pop a ring sizer in the post if you don't know it. Our hand/foot print rings are handcrafted using the same method as our charms and pendants.

We are also able to work with other base metals such as copper, brass or steel. If you would prefer us to create you something in a base metal please contact us to discuss your design.

Gold and Rose Gold plating is also available. We will have your sterling silver charm professionally plated using the highest quality materials for an additional charge.

Evening Just thought I'd pop by and show you what else I've been up to this afternoon. These wee paw prints actually belong to Lola and will become paw print pendants, to go on display alongside her nose in the groomers (although I may keep one for myself!) Check out that perfect print on the top right, that's a keepsake jewellers dream that is 😉 I'll be making them tomorrow whilst #1 is at nursery so I'll pop by and show you whilst I go 💜 I'm off to bed now, it's been a long day! Here's hoping for some better sleep 🤞🏼 Catch you tomorrow J xx

Afternoon 💜 We had a very special visitor here at B&B HQ today, she popped in for a few minutes to get her nose impression taken. She wasn't very keen on the idea but once she realised how cool her nose would look in sterling silver she let me borrow her nose for a few seconds. Here's the mould of her nose, the impression is just drying but I can't show you that at the moment because it's a Christmas gift, it's turned out perfectly though 😍 If you're local to me and you don't think you could take your pooches impression without a bit of help you're welcome to pop in (by appointment so I know I need to make a cake!) and I'll take the impression whilst you have a cuppa. Same goes for hand or footprints too, I make a mean chocolate brownie if that sways any of you 😉 J xx

Morning you lovely lot Well now, last night was interesting given I saw every hour (thank you boy #2 🙄) so I'm a little bit sleepy today! Thankfully we have nothing planned so I don't have to leave the house. I'm cracking on with designing my Christmas specials, there will be 5 pieces (Robin included who will remain open for orders) and they will only be available to b*u*y* through a Christmas themed Market Night I'm taking part in at the end of November so keep your eyes peeled for the details 💜 I've Christmas-ified (new word!) my logo especially for the event but I thought I'd gather your thoughts on it so here it is, complete with icicles and snow - what do you think? Evening How's tricks? I'm eating pringles and watching x-factor waiting for Victoria to appear all with a baby sleeping on my lap, the perfect way to end the weekend 😉 I finally finished this little fella today, he's going to be heading into the kiln tomorrow and I'm very excited to see how he's going to turn out. I know I first showed him to you a while back and by rights he should've been done by now but his head was accidentally knocked off and needed to be reattached! I also need to drill a couple of holes in him for the bail because in my haste to make him I forgot about that 🙈 Still, this time tomorrow this teeny Moomin will be solid sterling silver and I can't wait 💜 J xx

Morning Happy Sunday 💜 hope you're having a lovely weekend? I'm after a bit of assistance today and would be ever so grateful if you could give me a hand ☺️ I'm contemplating creating a few Christmas/Winter themed pieces following my Robin and was wondering what, if any, you'd like to see? If I do make them they'd be single pieces and not available to order, kinda like a one off collection. What do you think? Good idea or not so much? What designs would you like to see if any? J xx

So the kiln was working in overdrive yesterday, poor little thing wants a holiday now I think 😉 All that firing means there is a lot of polishing to get done, whilst I crack on with that here's a reminder of a finished keyring. This one is a childs drawing in copper but I can pop prints or handwriting on these too and in pretty much any shape you fancy as you saw with the hedgehog yesterday. If you're looking for a unique Christmas gift I think you might have just found it 😉 Much love J xx

Ah Saturday, how I've missed thee 💜 This morning I have so far done nothing. I had a lay in (well, a mum lay in, I got up at 8:30 😉) and I'm currently drinking tea in my pjs. I got thinking about weekends and what I love about them and I wondered what you guys think. What are weekends for in your house? J xx

Evening! I'm just emerging from a few hours lost to Pinterest, I shouldn't really open that app, least of all on a Friday night but oh well 😉 As most of you know I have an slight obsession with baby toes and my eldest kiddos feet were what sparked Boy and Bear so it will come as no great surprise to you that I have been looking at print keepsakes and I came across this video tutorial: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-vVx-ar_wX8 Now, I watched it with the sound off because I have a baby asleep on my knee so if the music is crazy or the persons voice is annoying please don't hold me accountable 😉 the things you need to make them also seem to be American but I'm pretty sure you'd be able to get similar over here. Looks like I might have just found the grandparents Christmas gifts but shhh 👍🏻 J xx

Afternoon Forgive me for not wishing you a happy Friday earlier, I've had a busy morning making something a wee bit different. I thought I'd test out my cutting skills and make a hedgehog keyring, I'm chuffed with how it's turning out so far 🦔 I just need to dry it and refine the edges so he won't be as messy as he is at the moment once he's finished, I've got so much to go in the kiln this afternoon, I think it's going to be on until bedtime! So there's a busy weekend ahead polishing with my new Dremel 😆 Right, back to it! Hope you're having a fab day. J xx ps, yes, that is a baby hand right there, us WAHM's need to adapt to using only one hand to complete tasks whilst the other gives cuddles 💜

Evening Tonight is my first evening since #2 was born that I am not eating chocolate. I figured that if I'm going to be going to the gym I can't really carry on eating quite so much rubbish! I've been looking for something to do instead and decided that maybe colouring in would be a good way to distract me from the pull of the Dairy Milk. Do any of you lovely lot colour in for fun? If you do, do you fancy sharing your books with me? I'd love to see. I've obviously not got very far with mine but if you're interested I can pop back and show you how I'm getting on in a few days 💜 J xx

Just look at the state of my fingers!! I really should learn to wear gloves when working with copper... It gets everywhere 🙈 Still, I've said it before and I'll say it again - the filthier a jewellers fingers the happier they are so today is a good day. Hope you're having a good one? J xx
