Update on biosecurity measures to protect against Avian Flu - News stories - GOV.UK
Please read and share the attached link. From what I understand after the end of February birds will no longer need to be housed, although all poultry keepers must maintain good biosecurity and ensure their birds are protected from wild birds, ie in netted pens. It looks as though free ranging as we are used to it is still not an option for the forseeable future.
There has just been a case of Avien Influenza found in a flock of pheasants in Preston. The cases of Avien Influenza in hens fortunately seem to be very few and far between, and from what i understand the main risk factor is when hens are mixing with ducks. Please continue to keep your birds locked up until 28 February so that we can keep all of our birds safe and our area clear.
Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs - GOV.UK
Just a quick reminder that we still need to ensure our birds are undercover / indoors, protected from wild birds, rodents and parasites. Birds near water or waterfowl are particularly vulnerable. Message from APHA: Avian influenza confirmed in Lincolnshire. Restrictions in place. More at gov.uk/defra

Some of our bantams ready now at £20. We are still selling birds but very cautiously. If you visit please wear different footwear to that you use when tending your own flock and use our footbath when entering and leaving the gate to the poultry area. Please only bring clean boxes or crates into our yard and please don't be offended if we ask about your housing. If your tyres are muddy from your own farm then you are welcome to use the pull in area opposite our yard entrance.
