Overlooking Stornoway harbour, the impressive gothic-revival style castle was built in the mid 1800’s by Sir James Matheson. Since then this beautiful building has also served as a hospital during WW2, a college, a school and now as an iconic wedding venue, day attraction and luxurious holiday destination with Natural Retreats.
Our spacious rooms in Lews Castle offer the perfect place for both ceremonies and receptions. Filled with natural light, the venue is rich in culture and history with grandeur perfectly suited to such a special occasion. There are a choice of four rooms to suit your party size and the entire space is also available for hire. Our first open mic Sunday session went down a real treat! Many thanks to Iain Mackinnon who played guitar and sang a lovely 'easy-like-Sunday' song set. Iain was joined by young fan Leah, for an impromptu performance or two which hailed a great applause! Thank you Leah! "Will ye no come back again?" Live music every Sunday from 2pm. And remember the Lews Castle bar is also now open every Sunday. A big thanks to all who came along today out of the pouring rain, you made it a great day for all of us.
Please note that due to a planned interruption to our electricity supply by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, the Lews Castle public ground floor rooms, Storehouse and Outfitters will be closed tomorrow (Saturday 25th February) from 9am until approximately 2pm. Why not pop in to the Storehouse Cafe and fill your belly with Chefs homemade Macaroni and Cheese served with beans, homemade garlic bread and sweet potato fries topped with crispy bacon! It's the simple things like Mac 'nd Cheese that make everything better!! This 'grate' special is on the castle menu until Friday for £8.95. Kids portions available.

Are you ready for the latest #lewsnews? As of this Sunday (26th February) we will be opening the doors to our bar for the first time, to the general public and wonderful community of Stornoway! Join us for a tipple in our beautiful bar area, and let our friendly staff guide you through the fantastic range of drinks on display. The opening times will be from 11am-5pm (identical to our Storehouse Cafe) with alcoholic beverages being served from 12.30pm!
