HARBOUR LIFE | Year 2 ventured out to visit our neighbour, the St Andrews harbour to learn about the different jobs involved down by the sea. They interviewed lobster fishermen, the lady who runs the harbour cafe and shop, the litter team who keep the beach clean, and even some Dutch pirates who told special stories about their lives aboard the tall ship that was anchored in the bay! They also checked out the facilities on offer to visitors of the East Sands - this meant trying out the play park and tasting the ice cream! Year 2 enjoyed their fun morning so much, they are going to create tourist brochures about the St Andrews seaside to encourage others to visit this wonderful place! #TouristInformation #Year2Adventure

SCOTTISH HISTORY | Last weekend, some of our lucky Junior and Senior School pupils and staff took their first famous footsteps across the iconic landmark, the Queensferry Crossing. There were 250,000 bridge ballot entries submitted to try and win this unique opportunity. Some happy St Leonards families were among the fortunate few allowed to set foot on the bridge before the hustle and bustle begins later this week (and before the Queen arrived)! It will form part of the M90 from Thursday. Parents and pupils enjoyed completing the walk across the tallest bridge in the UK and all agreed it was a memorable and exciting weekend event which they were proud to be a part of. Incredible views, positive atmosphere and dry weather! Thank you to our boys and girls for reporting back on this once in a lifetime opportunity, and for sharing some of their 'new bridge selfies' with us! #ProudSchool #QueensferryCrossing #MakingHistory

SLM Rugby | It has been a week since the launch of 'St Leonards Madras Rugby'. Over 70 players from St Leonards School and Madras Rugby Club attended the special training session and BBQ to celebrate and kickstart the partnership. Colin McAdam (President, Madras Rugby Club) and Dr Michael Carslaw (pictured) were both pitch-side to welcome parents and pupils, and spoke to the group about the great opportunity we have to work together to enhance youth rugby and nurture our talented players from the St Andrews community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and for all the support we have received - exciting times ahead rugby in St Andrews. We look forward to a great season ahead, filled with competitive fixtures, high-level coaching, additional training sessions and lots of fun! #SLMRugby #RugbyReady

TOP SWING | Our Sixth Former Ben Caton has made it to Japan and is playing extremely well in the Jack Bunny Tour National Finals, representing St Leonards and St Andrews Links. He is one of two British boys who made it to this stage of the competition and we are delighted to report that he is going into the final day, tied 8th. Judging by his golf swing, we are not surprised! So far, he has had an amazing experience, exploring Tokyo, being interviewed on Japanese TV, acclimatising to the heat and the jet lag and being coached by our Director of Golf, Fintan Bonner. He has performed well on the course in the practice day and the competing rounds. Tomorrow, he will go head to head with the best youth players in Japan (which is a lot bigger than St Andrews)! Good luck Ben! 🏌️ #JackBunny #StLeonardsGolf #GoingForTheWin
