Skin Testing Explained. Why do I need A skin test? To ensure we can safely apply lash and brow products as we need to know you if you are allergic to any of the products used within the salon. Is a skin test essential? Your health and well being is of paramount importance to us. If we were to apply products without performing a skin test, it could comprise your safety which is something we would never knowingly do. We do know some salons will perform treatments without a skin test – usually because they worry the slight inconvenience might tempt people to go to another salon. At BeYoutiful we would rather sadly lose a client than risk your health by skipping a skin test. I’ve been getting these treatments done for years! Do I still need a skin test? Absolutely, yes! Your previous treatment history doesn’t rule out an adverse reaction. The chemicals in all products change over time, as does your skin’s sensitivity. Some medications, for example, can make you hyper-sensitive. What does the test involve? There is no need to make an appointment. Just pop into our salon at least 48 hours before. The test only takes a couple of minutes to apply and, of course, is complimentary. The skin test product stays on your skin for a few hours. If you have any adverse reaction such as a burning sensation, itching, rash, inflammation or irritation please let us know immediately. Symptoms can take a while to develop which is why we test at least 48 hours before your appointment. We want to be sure. To make it as easy as possible for you, there is no need to book a time for your skin test (unless of course you’d prefer to) – just pop in. If you’ve any questions or concerns about the test or having treatments done on your eyebrows or lashes do phone or pop in for a chat with one of our experienced therapists.
