I am delighted to say that I managed a quick day trip down to Prestwick St Nicholas yesterday to play a round with my father in law. The weather was stunning (7-8 degrees warmer than East Lothian) and the course condition was nothing short of amazing particularly the greens. Prestwick Links Golf Championship Monday 22 – Saturday 27 May 2017 Places are still available The above Championship dates back to 1956 when this competition was introduced to decide the best golfer in Prestwick. All of the three Prestwick Golf Clubs support the event which is open to members of the clubs and to anyone permanently resident in Prestwick irrespective of his club membership or not. This is an amateur event open to players with a handicap of 12 or less. The competition opens with two qualifying rounds on Monday 22 May and Tuesday 23 May played over St Nicholas and St Cuthbert courses. The 16 best scratch qualifiers and the 8 best net qualifiers then play match play over Prestwick GC until the finals on Saturday 27 May produce the winners. The Nickson Trophy is presented to the best scratch golfer with the Boyd Cup going to the best handicap golfer. All matches are played between 4pm and 6pm to allow for work commitments. The entrance fee is only £8. No green fees are payable. Applications forms are available from Club Secretaries with the closing date on Sunday 14 May this year. The draw will be displayed on the club notice board and the daily results and pairing are updated each day during the week.
