Dear Members 10th newsletter and the last before the festive season, there are several events taking place with the Kids Party and New Year’s Eve already sold out. Sorry to those who were not successful, but as the club in its current format can only hold a limited amount of people we are restricted by space and fire regulations. There are spaces for the other events so please get those tickets and/or get your names in the book. What been going on? Friday 24th Nov Music in the month Ace Trio was the entertainment for this night, we had a 15 guest dancers in who really got the place rocking. Panto 1st & 2nd December What can I say; another spectacular show wonderfully directed by our very own Alan Jenkins, so a big thank you to him. To the cast and background crew I can only thank them for their sterling efforts, giving up so much of their valuable time and not being afraid to give us all much laughter at their expense. The kids did a fantastic job with boundless enthusiasm, well done all. 9th Dec Christmas Dinner Dance Amy Baker entertained us for this event, a great evening was had by all, dinner was not up to usual standard but the cheese board made up for it. In the end all members who were on the reserve list were accommodated, we had a few late cancellations but we managed to fill a couple of those. I will remind members that refunds are not possible for cancellations on tickets at any time; they must be return to club at earliest opportunity where we will endeavour to re-sale for you, there is not an automatic re-fund given if you can no longer attend any event. Big thank you’s goes out to Kerry (didn’t attend but still came along to set up) and all the help I got from Lyn & Steve (great cheese board, table decs and all the trimmings), Rosie table settings & being the booking agent, Paul Barnden ace DJ, Gordon, Lesley & Keith, Mike and Sheila Stubbs, Ian & Tracy Carrott, Karen, Sarah, Chris & Gary Davis for card magic. What’s coming up? 17th Dec Kids Christmas Party Book Full (Reserve list only now) & Christmas Draw This will be held straight after the Kids Party in the evening. Tickets are on sale now for this year’s Christmas draw (Top prize £500 with lots of other festive gifts and bottles). They are priced at 50p per ticket and £2.50 per book. Fill in your details and place money in envelope with stubs and hand to bar staff. Please note that there is a limited amount of tickets left. Xmas Disco / Karaoke on the 23rd December. A double event taking place with one of our resident DJ’s (Chris “Smashie”Jenkins) spinning the wheels of steel and Phil “the tonsils” Dunk, master of karaoke ceremonies, inviting those talented members and guests up for a song. 26th Dec Boxing Day A music in the month event, bring a plate of snacks for this late afternoon event to share, music KO at 4pm (names in the book please for this event for bar staff numbers). The acts performing are; Kevin (Kojaks) Smith Katie Grace Pat Tanter Opening Times for the Festive Season Friday 22nd - Normal Opening times 17:00 to 23:30 Christmas Eve - 12:00 to 24:30 (with nibbles at the Bar) Christmas Day - 12:00 to 15:00 (Bar staffed by Committee Members) Boxing Day - 12:00 to 23:30 Weds-Thur - Normal Opening times 19:00 to 23:00 Friday - Normal Opening times 17:00 to 23:30 New Year’s Eve - 12:00 to 17:00 open again at 19:00 to 01:00 (Ticket Holders Only) New Year’s Day - 12:00 to 23:00 Please note that club will close New Year’s Eve between 5pm and 7pm New Year’s Eve The fabulous “The Great Sultans” are the entertainment for this night, Book Full (Reserve list only now) Bingo Please note January bingo will be on the 8th January  January Events There are a few events coming up in January that you might want to pencil in your new diaries. 13th will be a Race Night for all the family. 19th is a music in the month night with “Devin Jade” the entertainer booked for this night. 20th is the Fashion Show, an all-girl event. 27th is “Burns Night” with a fabulous Rod Stewart tribute act booked, tickets available soon for these events, please check the notice board and website for details. Carlton Club Cook Book Robbie (our resident Panto promt), has offered to oversee a recipe book for members of the club favourite dishes, so if you have a delightful dish pop it into the club or email100rrb@gmail.com and Robbie will endeavour to make you famous as a contributor. The Sunday lunchtime crew tasters have tried Robbie’s bread pudding and the vote was yum yum, they are only too willing to try out your recipe, so bring in a sample. And finally don’t forget the usual events, Friday club night “Key to a Fortune” is coming back you have to be in to win so get your tickets ready.
