Pea drilling has started this week, we are currently looking after 3660 acre of peas across Yorkshire - today’s fact: pea farming is very organised! We drill each field on a specific day, so that we can harvest every sweet and tender pea at its peak.
**** WANTED**** Part time and full time staff. Due to new and exciting contracts B.I.Sykes agricultural contractors require: 1 x full time tractor operative to carry out spraying, drilling operations and potato planting. The ideal candidate should be willing to work long hours and capable of lone working. PA1 and PA2 certification is essential. Ideally we would like the candidate to know there way around an Amazon 24m sprayer and tillage spreader as well as having sufficient knowledge of operating a 6M Vaderstad drill and Grimmie cup planter. Other operations include baling and potato lifting work. 2 x seasonal vacancies June - September: Pea Viner drivers to operate self propelled pea viners, vining 4000 acre of peas across Yorkshire. Prior experience isn’t essential as training will be given, we would however like the candidate to demonstrate experience and competency in operating large agricultural machinery. The candidate will be require to work within a large team and demonstrate professionalism while working 12 hour shifts; this is a 24 hour operation night time work will be required. 2 x seasonal vacancies June - September: tractor drivers to operate high tip trailers and assist with pea vining operations. Tractor driving experience is essential. The construction side of the company ‘Sykes Contracting LTD’ require Labourur’s and machine operators to install CCTV camera’s and lay cable along new manage motorway schemes throughout the UK. CSCS cards would be an advantage but training can be given. Other work includes, fencing, site clearance, demolition and landscaping. The ideal candidates should be willing to travel across the country and be prepared to work long hours as part of a team and expanding business. Shift work is available and accommodation will be provided while working away from home. Great rates of pay available.
