Penicuik Spring Fling
‘Have you heard of Geocaching, but never tried it? Come along to Penicuik Estates event and discover the world of geocaching with help from our geocaching friends in Midlothian. For the experienced, there will be several new caches published for the event and many of the old ones will be retained. And for the beginner, an introductory course will be available on the day with volunteer’s available to show you what this hi tech treasure hunt is all about! Please note the some of the estate paths and tracks can be muddy and appropriate footwear should be worn. A spring fungal foray on the Penicuik Estate
Fungi specialist and mycologist Cameron Diekonigin will lead this workshop for anyone who wants to learn more about identifying fungi, one of the world’s largest groups of organisms with potentially 1.5 million species! This course is an introduction and aimed at those who have no or very little understanding of fungi. The workshop is mostly out of doors so please dress sensibly for the changeable Scottish weather. We suggest waterproofs, layers plus a hat and gloves. The route is muddy and uneven in places so walking boots/stout footwear is advised. Easter Event
Come and join storyteller Allison Galbraith on an Easter ramble through the Estate. Listen to her magical tales and look out for the creatures of the Woodland on the way. Then join the Rangers for some traditional Egg rolling. Have fun decorating an egg before rolling it down the grassy hill. Cost: £1 per egg. Start: Penicuik Estate Car Park Finish: Penicuik House

PLEASE BE AWARE that from 24:00hrs on Sunday the 19th of February to 24:00hrs on Wednesday the 22nd of February, the footpath and woodland next to the car will be closed for forestry operations. The Forestry Operations are part of the twenty year woodland management plan, continuing the process of restructuring and the management of the woodlands. The work also aims to restore the original design landscape where appropriate. Please obey all signage and use the diversion in black below or an alternative route for the duration of these operations. Thank you in advance for your co-operation!

LOST PROPERTY: A Edinburgh City Council Saltire Card was found by a member of the public behind the Conserved Ruin around 16:50 yesterday. It is being held in the Ranger Office for collection.
FORESTRY OPERATIONS UPDATE: The forestry operations that were due to commence on Monday 6th February on the estate, in the plantation next to the car park, have been postponed. Further updates on the situation will follow in the next couple of weeks.
