The Harley Staples Cancer Trust
Description
Registered Charity no.1138464 Our charity The Harley Staples Cancer Trust is in loving memory of our beautiful, inspirational boy Harley.
Harley was diagnosed with a rare leukaemia: B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Birkitt Type on January 28th 2009.
During his illness Harley was incredibly brave, he smiled and laughed every day. We never knew what each day in hospital would bring. There were so many tests, so much treatment and medicine for Harley to have, all to try and make him better. Despite this he faced each day like a brave soldier. Harley made many friends in the hospital and he helped the other children to face each day and their treatment, and they helped him too.
We know that Harley would want us to continue to help his friends who are still battling with their illnesses and any other children who have to live and fight a potentially life threatening illness.

** Happy Harley's Holiday Homes **
These are available FREE to children and teenagers to use and enjoy with their families to create happy memories to cherish and offer fresh air and respite away from the hospital.
We also extend this to bereaved parents who have lost a child to cancer.
We have a caravan in Overstrand, Norfolk for holidays and short breaks for respite and fresh air.
We now have Harley's House in Rutland
**Happy Harley Day's**
We realise that not everyone is able to take a holiday, therefore we also donate art and craft materials to Ward 27 LRI and organise special entertainment days both on and off the ward for these special children.
We understand how difficult it is for families trying to live and cope when a child is diagnosed with a potentially life threatening illness and we aim to put a smile on the children's faces whilst they battle this horrendous disease.
Thank you all so much for your support xx

We are thrilled that the first family will be going into Harley's House this weekend! ... we've been very busy these last few weeks ensuring that the house is perfect for our very special guests. It has only been through your generosity and efforts over the last 7 years that have enabled us to buy this very special house, that will give children and young adults a chance to escape hospital and treatment for a while and enjoy quality time with their families and create memories to cherish forever. We thank you all so much xxxxxxxx

Dear All, It is with regret and much deliberation that we have had to make the decision to stop providing funding for fingerprint jewellery with immediate effect. We fully realise how precious these items are to families but our funding pot can no longer stretch to the huge costs that these items incur to our charity, even more so now that we have Harley's House on the verge of being up and running for holidays. We will honour any prints that have been taken already or are about to be taken but can no longer take orders for this jewellery. We thank you all for your continued support Katherine, Jamie and Angel Boy Harley xxxx

Harley's House has always been our ultimate goal and it's almost ready! We were recently chosen as one of the community projects #SparkSomethingGood -a collaboration of Marks and Spencer and neighbourly.com. Tomorrow, 12 volunteers made up of M&S staff, family and friends will come together to get Harley's House spruced up and furnished in preparation to welcome children and young adults with cancer along with their families to enjoy quality time together in a homely environment. We are, as ever, indebted for your support in creating Harley's legacy and we can't wait to show you the final results ... Wish us Good Luck! xxxx
