You never know when a First aid emergency can strike. This evening whilst Florrie and Albert were sat in the living room eating an orange, Florrie began to choke on a segment. I was standing just inside the kitchen not even 5metres away unaware what was happening. Florrie had gone silent and Albert 9yrs old had recognised this but was initially lost for words to shout for help. He shoved his (nearly) 2yr old sister forward delivered 2 sharp blows to Florries back. After the first one he cried out "MUM FLORRIES CHOKING". My heart skipped a beat and we dashed through the door to find him giving a second backblow which cleared her airway and she cried out as her big brother had just slapped her. First aid training is so important for all ages, but especially school aged children. We need to see more first aid taught in schools and made part of the curricullum. I know most schools run fun sessions, but it isnt mandatory. We always talk about teaching children lifeskills and this is certainly a life skill that has been worthwhile teaching my super hero son.

Children can never be too young to start learning aspects of first aid, this 3yr old girl phoned for an ambulance for her mummy who had fallen down the stairs.
These guys did the right thing and helped a person in need, a well deserved reduction in their prison sentences.
