We are sadly saying goodbye to our lovely Membership Secretary Phoebe soon - we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavours! This now means that we have a vacancy to join our brilliant team, on a voluntary basis. If you, or someone you know would be interested in taking this on, please do get in touch: volunteer@hartwildlife.org.uk Membership Secretary: The role of membership / donor officer involves looking after both new and existing members – sending out the appropriate communication and membership cards, as well as thanking donors from a variety of sources. Spending an hour or so a week checking for new member applications both online and in the hospital, and sending out membership renewal reminders is more than enough to get the job done. It’s incredibly rewarding helping out the hospital, ensuring they receive the donations necessary to continue all their hard work! We hope to hear from you soon!

Meet Dulux, an otherwise perfectly healthy large male hedgehog, who unfortunately wandered into the wrong garden where someone had carelessly left out some gloss paint (we think). Looks like he walked straight into it and then curled up, and by the time he wandered into a friendly garden, it had dried on solid! His belly has been shaved to remove the paint, and he is undergoing daily baths to scrape off the paint. It is very difficult to safely remove from his spines and will take some time. Please remember to keep your gardens safe for wildlife! If you would like to help support our work, please check out our Amazon wish list where you can donate much needed supplies for the hospital! https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/wishlist/YNW6HLAARZTB/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1

Thank you to all our supporters and the people who donated. The result of your money can be seen in the pictures below. Watch this space for follow up photos of it being used. A special thank you to the team at SSE for giving their time in order for it to go up. Thank you all again for either donating your time or money, the birds here will appreciate it.

Charity shops such as our wonderful two in Alton, Hampshire sadly can be seen as a dumping ground for some people. Needless to say it is not acceptable and incidents will be reported to the police for fly-tipping. Our shops work very hard to create an enjoyable shopping experience with quality items that sell, to raise funds that keep our wildlife hospital in operation. Items that are not worth anything sadly actually cost us money to dispose of. Thank you to everyone who supports us by either donating quality goods or shopping in our charity shops.

Two of our little baby hedgehogs, finding their feet! These two were brought in over a week ago after their nest was disturbed. They are now just over two weeks old and have opened their eyes. If you come across a hedgehog nest whilst gardening, do not touch the babies, just place the nest back together and leave well alone, checking to see if mum has returned the next day. If she has not returned, or you find 'peeping' babies (calling) or if they are not in a nest, then call a rescue.

Cheers big ears! This brown long eared bat is here for hopefully just a short stay, whilst we feed him up. Their ears are almost as long as their body and can be tucked under their wings while resting!

One of our amazing supporters is undertaking the EPIC challenge of trekking to Everest Base Camp! Heading off in October, Sara Frost is funding the entire trip herself so that all money she raised comes directly to HART Wildlife Rescue! We're thrilled that Sara has chosen to fund-raise for us, if you would like to support her or read more about this, please have a look at her fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/frosty-at-everest

We need a new aviary! We have been so busy with nestling and fledgling garden birds this year, and just don't have enough suitable space to accommodate them all in their latter stages of rehab, just before they are released. Can you help by donating or sharing our fundraising appeal? https://www.gofundme.com/wildlife-hospital-needs-new-aviary
