Welcome to the official Facebook page of East Midlands Soccer Six, the charity six-a-side tournament at Mansfield Town FC in aid of Guide Dogs. What's happening? On Sunday 8th May, 10:30 while 16:30, supporters of the six East Midlands football clubs will go head to head on the pitch at the One Call Stadium as they look to get one over their rival supporters whilst raising funds for a life changing charity. The pitch will be split in two with each clubs fielding an under 35s team and an over 35s team. Each side can name up to 10 players plus one legend. Players are asked to raise a minimum of £50 to enter with all funds going to Guide Dogs. Event organiser Nathan Edge, a Mansfield Town supporter and an admirer of the game has put together this fantastic event to continue his desire to give back to the charity which completely changed his life. Nathan was visually impaired from the age of six due to a condition called Uveitis which originated from having Arthritis in the knee a year earlier. For the most of his life Nathan had around 20% vision with no reason to believe that it would ever get worse... But in February 2014, Nathan was thrown in to complete darkness as he lost the remainder of his vision over night. Thankfully four months prior to this, Nathan had already qualified with Guide Dog Hudson who has ensured Nathan didn't also lose his freedom and independents along with his sight. Hudson has given Nathan the confidence to move forward with his life and the desire to succeed. Now Nathan wants to make sure that anyone who goes through life with sight loss also has the same support that he was fortunate enough to receive. Here are the clubs involved Mansfield Town #Stags. Chesterfield #Spireites. Notts County #Notts. Nottingham Forest #NFFC. Derby County #DCFC. Leicester City #LCFC. As well as the tournament taking place itself, there will also be a range of other exciting activities happening throughout the day for spectators such as blindfold penalty shoot-outs, a blindfold experience inside the Guide Dogs sensory unit and much more. It will be a day you really don't want to miss. Tickets are available to purchase in person from the Mansfield Town ticket office or by calling 01623 482482. Just £3 adults and £1 children aged 12 and under. You can also follow us on Twitter - www.twitter.com/EMSoccerSix If you would like to get in touch regarding playing, volunteering or sponsorship opportunities, please contact event organiser Nathan Edge - Nathan.Edge10@gmail.com
