***WEATHER INFORMATION** Make sure you are prepared as the cold weather approaches later this week, TOP 3 TIPS 1. KEEP HEATING ON - rapid changes in temperature may cause fevers, colds & flu - Boilers work harder and longer to regain temperature on timer plans rather than short bursts to maintain temperature whilst on constant 2. HOT FOOD - Porridge, soups, stews, Cold weather is not the time for salads & sandwiches, Cooked food releases more energy and keeps your core temperature safe. 2 EXTRA LAYERS - vests, t-shirts, jumpers, tights & socks, Hats 7 Scarves - In cold weather (i.e. Snow & ice) it is advised on go out if it is essential - but make sure if you do dress with multiple layers more layers the better, REMEMBER - layers can be taken off if you are too warm but if you are out you won't have layers to add.. tights under trousers (men or women) keep legs warm for circulation socks over tights cold feet stop you moving. also Wear extra layers indoors to keep core temperature safe.. (but don't substitute heating for layers, heating is a must) *core temperature needs to maintain at 98 degrees. a drop in 1.5 degrees can make the body feel lethargic & tired which may slow movement that generates warmth, a further drop in 1.5 degrees (95 degrees) is classed in the range of hypothermia STAY WARM - STAY SAFE Check the link from KCC for more information http://www.kent.gov.uk/social-care-and-health/information-for-professionals/winter-advice-for-social-care-and-health-professionals#
