Short of space or have a small courtyard garden? With clever planters you can have quite a lot of beautiful plants and create the illusion of scale

Most people when they think of a Japanese garden, think bamboo and maples/acers. This may be true for a 'tea house' garden, but in reality, the Japanese favour the pine tree. It is revered above all plants in a garden. But, they believe that a pine tree should be shaped - almost like a child's drawing of a tree. The branches are pruned and clipped to resemble clumps giving it a simple form that becomes immensely beautiful...this is called Niwaki. It takes quite an effort and a lot of patience to do, but the results are stunning. There are garden centres and online shops that sell Niwaki, but they don't come cheap - I've seen a 5 foot specimen for £4500!! But, we can supply and manage a simple pine, for a lot less - and in time, you'll have a stunning Niwaki tree - and it won't cost the earth

French drain and sump is in and cover with pea-gravel. #knackered

18metre trench dug for a French drain to go in, and then in goes the big sump - so any water can be pumped away. Will definitely solve the constant flooding they get in their gardens.
