We are now taking bookings for our new Nature school programme.
It was a Kingfisher three years ago that inspired me to start B.O.B. I was working as a volunteer for a wildlife organisation. We where in the woods with a class of primary school children & a Kingfisher was whizzing up and down the dyke behind the woods. I saw it twice and the third time it sat on a low hanging branch over the dyke. I told the leader who I was with ( thinking they would tell the children and we'd all share a moment) However the leader carried on with the planned session. Which surprised me greatly, So not wanting a missed opportunity to show children the creatures around them I pointed out the kingfisher to a small group beside me and the class teacher. The group and teacher where squealing with excitement and where asking questions etc. Next thing I know the group of children where then showing their friends who where busy with the activity, before you know it everyone in the class wanted to see the kingfisher. It was a real magically moment. On the way back to the coach the teacher stopped me and said "Thank you for showing us the Kingfisher today, I for one had never seen a kingfisher and I'm sure many of the children have never seen one either. So Thank you" Sharing in the moment experiences is what's great about being outside. So from the "Kingfisher moment" I started to think about how I could bring more moments to children. So here I am with Butterflies of Britain. Sharing my love of nature with you all. 🐝🦎🐛Lindsey Andrews 🦋🕷🐞
