Description
Central School of Ballet was founded by Christopher Gable CBE and Ann Stannard in 1982. The Senior School course is one of the most comprehensive dance programmes in the country, and the only one to offer a BA(Hons) in Professional Dance & Performance. The Senior School course is one of the most comprehensive dance programmes in the country, and helps students go on to careers in classical ballet, contemporary dance and musical theatre.

Ballet Central, Central's touring company are seeking a Stage Manager for the 2018 tour! Set to be the best tour yet, the company will be performing in 21 venues across the UK from March-July. There are spaces available on Central's Dance Day in Leeds on 10 February! Dance Days are a wonderful opportunity for young dancers to learn more about life in full-time training. Earlier this week Central hosted a Regional Ballet Tutors day. Over 40 tutors came from around the UK to observe classes, take part in Q&A's with Central tutors, have a lecture by Matt Wyon on behalf of One Dance UK and a pointe shoe-fitting talk with Freed of London. #professionaldevelopment It was wonderful to welcome so many teachers into Central. We look forward to hosting the event again next year!
This evening at 8pm, Central MA Choreography student, Malcolm Sutherland Choreographer & Composer's new work entitled 'Lost for words' will premiere at the Resolution Festival at The Place. Yesterday afternoon, Ballet Central dancers performed at a classical concert for local elderly people and their friends in Chelsea. Following on from Ballet Central's wonderful reception at last year's event, this free performance took place at the HTB Church in Onslow Square and was attended by hundreds. The audience saw an exclusive preview of the forthcoming Ballet Central 2018 Tour, which included extracts from Wayne McGregor's FAR, Kenneth MacMillan's Valley of Shadows and Jenna Lee's Black Swan. The performance also included extracts from The Nutcracker and featured Shizaru, a work choreographed by third year Central student and Ballet Central dancer, Natasha Chu.
There is now a workshop only option available at the Central auditions in New York City in February. The workshop will be delivered by Ballet Central's Artistic Director, Christopher Marney, former principal dancer with Matthew Bourne's New Adventures. Auditions and workshops will be held on Sunday 11th February, 11am-4pm at The Ailey Studios, The Joan Weill Center for Dance, 405 West 55th Street at 9th Avenue, New York, NY 10019.
