Lochgilphead Gents Open Senior player Tommy Angus didn’t play in any of the golf week competitions but he was saving himself for the Gents Open on Saturday which he won with a clear lead scoring a magnificent nett 61, which also bagged him the Senior Trophy. Tommy has won many competitions over his years at Lochgilphead but this was his first open win and he was delighted when he made the double. The scratch Trophy was won by Captain Ryan McGlynn with a gross score of 67, The gents open was sponsored by Celidhs Homet, JMK Electrical, Macleod Construction and Empire Travel Lodge and we would like to thank these sponsors for their help in making the day a success. Golf week saw many players compete for prizes outwith the normal fixture list rules and again we were delighted to receive sponsorship from Cowan and MacBrayne, RA Clements, Mid Argyll Youth Forum and Empire Travel Lodge RESULTS Gents Open Handicap 1st Tommy Angus, 2nd Keith Blair (Tarbert), 3rd I Phillips. Longest drive, Junior Liam MacKinnon, Lady Fiona Johnstone, Gent Ryan McGlynn After a great week many of the members turned out on Sunday to help with coring, sanding and seeding the greens, unfortunately due to the rain this had to be continued during the week, a big thanks goes to all the members for their help and to ATV for their support The next big events on the calendar is the Junior Open on the 22nd July and entries are invited for this from juniors with national and club handicaps and the Ladies Open on 27th August, contact Donna McKellar on 07919 242053 to book your place

Fun night competition at the end of the coaching sessions. Format was a pairs competition with some experienced golfers teaming up with the coaching participants Winners of the Over 10 trophy were Ruan McKellar and James Scott, the unde 10 trophy was won by Ali and Harry Turner while David Sinclair teamed up with newby Claire McCarten to win the adult section The evening finished with supper in the clubhouse Many thanks goes to the competitors, and all those who provided and served the supper, a good night was had by all

WINNERS ALL ROUND TODAY Last round of the Gents Championship saw Ross Sinclair win with a total gross score of 265 for the 4 rounds Well done to Ross who also won the Seniors Downhill Trophy on day 1 Runner up was Captain Ryan McGlynn with a total of 277 and third was Robbie Wilson also with 277 The handicap competition winner was Robbie Meanwhile the ladies went to Tarbert Golf Club Open where Kathleen Young took second place in the scratch competition and Ele Hunter won nearest the pin at the 17th Thanks Tarbert Ladies we had a lovely day
