Cycling Club for everyone - you'll never be alone on a club ride. All ability groups catered for. The CMC Cycling Club was launched in November 2011 and after a few years in Gelli Aur, has now moved to The Cawdor Hotel Llandeilo.  The hotel has superb facilities for club members, including a club meeting room, showers, secure bike storage, secure parking and a choice of rooms to hold indoor training sessions and audio visual presentations.  After every ride or turbo session on Tuesday nights, we convene in our very own "Club Room" for FREE tea/coffee and snacks. As a club we pride ourselves on the way we welcome new members, no matter their level of cycling experience or ability - all are welcome (after all we all had to start somewhere!). We meet every Tuesday at 7.00pm for a short ride or turbo session.  On Wednesday mornings, there's an informal ride for those with days off or retired and an organised club ride on Sundays of varying distance.  Paid -up members are covered by our group insurance on these rides. The Annual membership fee is just £25.00 per person and this includes free ride insurance, generous discounts from our Club Sponsors - County Cycles of Cross Hands and also includes FREE refreshments on Club Night - at just 48p per week it's outstanding value for money!

The Club has recently promoted it's first ever cycling event - The DamBuster Ride.  In collaboration with The Douglas Bader Foundation, the event was organised to commemorate the famous raids on the dams in Germany by 617 Sqd during WW2. This successful raid accelerated the end of the war.  In the spirit of the event, riders with disabilities rode alongside able-bodied cyclists up to Llyn Brianne Reservoir above Llandovery.  At the DBF feed station, riders witnessed a fly-past of aircraft piloted by individuals with significant disabilities - a truly moving moment when our club philosophy of "inclusivity" was never better demonstrated. :-)

If you can ride a bike you're welcome at our club.
We look forward to meeting you one Tuesday evening.

************CLUB NIGHT 24th OCTOBER************ It’s looking very much like being very wet and windy this evening, so a ride is highly unlikely. However, Wyn will be running the first official turbo session in the chapel clubhouse, which will provide us with an excellent opportunity to enjoy a really good workout. We now have club turbos for use by members, but they will be on a “first come, first served” basis. It would be much appreciated, therefore, if you could comment below if you wish to use one of these. (Remember to bring a large towel to lay underneath your bike...). If you don’t fancy doing a turbo session, why not just come along and enjoy a drink and a chat? Tea and coffee, cake and biscuits will be available as usual! Deposits of £10pp are now being taken for the club Christmas Dinner - see Marianne.

**************************CLUB RIDE******************************* *****************Sunday 22 October 2017*********************** Meet at Dryslwyn Castle for a 10.00am start, heading to Llansteffan via Carmarthen - a round trip of 40 odd miles. The weather is a bit iffy this weekend - stormy/windy on Saturday and a bit uncertain for Sunday - little rain but still a tad windy apparently. With this in mind, a decision on whether the ride goes ahead will be taken at 8.00am on Sunday morning when the forecast has been updated - please keep an eye on this page. As always, it will help hugely if members could indicate below if they're planning to ride or not. Cheers Wyn

************CLUB NIGHT 10th OCTOBER************* The weather’s looking a little uncertain for this evening, with a chance of rain around our meeting time of 7pm in the Cawdor car park. However, if you’d rather not ride, there are turbos available in the chapel clubhouse for us to do a worthwhile hour of leg-spinning and calorie-burning. After this, we can enjoy cake and chocolate biscuits to make us feel even better...... Don’t forget that we now have lots of lovely, new club jerseys for sale, which you can try before you buy. (Price £30). Would members kindly leave a comment on the Club Christmas Dinner post if they intend to attend (!); also, please indicate your number of guests and whether you have special dietary requirements. Thanks!

The new club jerseys have arrived, price £30,and will be available tonight to try before you buy. Jason isn't "superhuman" after all!!! Spoke to Jason earlier to find out how he is after his "off" during the Cyclocross event on Saturday. Transpires that he's broken some ribs and dislocated his shoulder but doesn't seem particularly perturbed about it - very philosophical actually!! There's a particularly tricky spot on the course where you have to negotiate some steps embedded in the sand with metal hand rails on either side. Now Jason, always wanting to do well, went and practised riding over this hazard on Friday and thought he'd perfected the technique. Come race day however, there was a rush of blood to the head and he followed through some fast guys on mountain bikes and he lost it. Got catapulted over the bars, hit the hand rail (dislocating his shoulder) and went down the steps on his ribs instead of on two wheels - still finished the lap though!! He reckons the distance between each step was about three ribs worth!! :-) Being serious for a moment, I'm sure we all wish Jason a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in club very soon. Wyn
