Make.
Description
Open access workshop, Production and event space in Liverpool's North Docks. Workspace and meeting room in the Baltic Triangle. Working with our partners, Make is growing swiftly from pop-up to permanent. We continue to invest in core equipment, combining everything from woodwork and welding to 3-D printers, laser cutting and CNC milling. We house a photographic dark room and a textile and fashion space with industrial sewing machines, alongside ceramics and an up-cycling area.
Make is a place to share skills, make, fix and create; to learn and to teach; to try and tweak. It’s a place that combines high tech ideas with traditional crafts; experienced hands with new skills. We’re a place to run workshops, and always want to hear from people who want to run courses; we’re a space for workers, makers, students and tutors; for artist’s talks and creative events; small parties, launches, meetings and exhibitions.
Make Liverpool is the culmination of three years of research, planning and preparation from the team behind the Baltic Triangle’s Ninety Squared CIC. Directors Alex Kelly, Kirsten Little and Liam Kelly run creative space in Baltic’s Elevator Studios, creating a hub for small businesses and makers to grow and develop projects and ideas.
Occupying 18,000 square feet of warehouse space on Regent Street, we’re at the heart of Liverpool's north docks. It’s slap bang in the middle of the city’s spiritual engine room, where things have been made and fixed for hundreds of years. Carving out a reputation as the new destination for creatives and culture vultures, our neighbours here are the Kazimier’s Invisible Wind Factory, the Lantern Company, Sound City and Titanic Hotel.
Make Liverpool opens this spring with a series of events, and our workshop opens in September. It is a place to collaborate and create; a magnet for creatives, makers and events. Join us.

Our #ThrowbackThursday reflects on the achievements of March this year. MDI managed to bring contemporary dance to new and loyal audiences alike, by being bold and popping up LEAP Dance Festival for two weeks in our warehouse space at Make. in the North Docks. Together we proved that arts organisations working in partnership can achieve great things. We couldn't have asked to work with a more capable, driven and passionate team as we found with MDI. Public subsidy of the arts allows pioneering organisations to take artistic (and financial) risk, in the pursuit of doing great things. Tuesday was an ambivalent day with great news of many fantastic organisations in Liverpool City Region receiving security for the next four years, but with others devastatingly not. This post is dedicated to our respect for MDI and all they have done. I bet with their long history of success they could fill many a throwback Thursday.

We should start one of these!
We're one week into the campaign and someone has bought the “Name our Pillar Drill” Perk! The maker who bought it wanted to remain anonymous, but he's named it after his grandson to continue the tradition of making things, to a new generation. How wonderful is this?
