We're looking for the first person in the county to get one of the new-style pound coins. They start being circulated from today, but none of the banks have them yet. So the closest you can get is a leaflet from the Royal Mint, explaining all about the coins, why they are being introduced, and what businesses have to do to prepare for them. But surely someone on the boat or the plane is going to bring some in their pocket. If that's you, get in touch - on here, or on (01856) 873939. (Oh, and don't worry about the old ones. They're still legal tender until October. And banks will carry on accepting them even after that. So you don't have to get rid of them all in a rush. Though some people apparently have been.)

(Huw) Good morning. Hope you can join us for "Around Orkney" at 07:30am. On the programme today: calls for a one stop shop to improve the care for people living with disability, and we meet the new people moving to Papay. In the meantime, here's an early look at the weather: It'll be cloudy with a little light rain or drizzle at times. Feeling rather cold in fresh easterly winds. Max temp 8C. And it's a happy birthday today to tv's Michael Parkinson and to Peruvian novelist and Nobel prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa. (They both listen whenever they're in the county.)

A discussion event in Kirkwall tonight has been organised to try and provide information and collect views from the community about the ramifications of Brexit in Orkney. The meeting has been set up by the Centre on Constitutional Change which is a non-party political organisation dedicated to providing information on a range of constitutional issues affecting the country. The Kirkwall event involves local speakers and constitutional experts and anyone with opinions on - or questions about Brexit is invited along. The meeting is in the Garden Room at the King Street Halls tonight between six and eight o' clock. Tea and coffee from 5.30.
