Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice,
Hebden Road, Oxenhope, Keighley, BD22 9HJ Tel: 01535 640430 Email: manorlands.fundraising@sueryder.org Sue Ryder – Manorlands Hospice provides incredible care for over 1,170 people living with incurable illnesses each year in Airedale, Craven and North and West Bradford.
Established almost 40 years ago, Sue Ryder – Manorlands Hospice not only provides specialist medical care to ease pain and discomfort, but also offers people and their families real emotional support during what can be an extremely difficult time.

We take the time to get to know the person and understand what their individual care needs and aspirations are; time that sometimes isn’t available in a hospital.  And, the care we provide is flexible, giving people the freedom to live the life they choose, whether that is for a number of years or days.

Sue Ryder – Manorlands Hospice provides incredible care through a range of services so that people can have choice and control over how and where they receive their care.  These services include; 16 in-patient beds; a day hospice service; outpatient clinics in local GP surgeries; a 24-hour advice service to healthcare professionals; tele-consultation service which enables people to speak face-to-face with their doctor or nurse through their TVs at home; family and bereavement support, and care in people’s homes.

Our specialist doctors, nurses and carers ensure people feel totally supported at a time when they are often at their most vulnerable; providing a listening ear as well as helping them to cope with pain and physical symptoms.  We also support families and loved ones to cope with depression, anger and guilt which people can often feel when they experience loss and grief.  And, we work closely with Asian communities to break down cultural barriers to accessing our care.

It costs £2.7 million each year to provide care at, and from, Sue Ryder – Manorlands Hospice. We need to raise a minimum of £1.6 million of that in donations and voluntary income.  Living with an incurable illness is difficult and losing a loved one can be unbearable.
An aging population and hard-hitting government cuts mean that we need your support more than ever. Please give whatever you can afford; just £7.80 pays for one hour of incredible care.

“They are fantastic to me. I can’t rate them highly enough. Staff at Manorlands Hospice have sorted a pain management programme for me which means I’m now enjoying being back in the comfort of my own home. It’s great to be back home and to be up and about again,” these are the words of patient Ann Greene. Ann was diagnosed in 2015 with cancer which unfortunately it’s now back. With no more treatment available to her, Ann organised an ‘Awake party’ for her family and friends to help celebrate her life. She has raised a staggering £1000 for Manorlands Hospice. We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from people like Ann and her family and friends. All our care services are completely free of charge to patients and their loved ones, but we receive only 32% of funds to cover the costs of all our services, we need to raise the remaining £2.3m.

The BigK 10K and 5K award winners 2018 sponsored by Airedale Shopping Centre , Colin Appleyard Cars and Keighley Lifts. Apologies this is a little later than planned but here are the details of the award winners connected with the Keighley BigK last Sunday. Category winners can be seen on the online results and winners, second and third place medals have all now been sent out and should of arrived with (or be arriving with) your t-shirts. There will also be medals sent for the fastest 5 male runners from the same running club and fastest 5 female runners from the same running club. In our 11 year history these sets of medals have only ever gone to Keighley and Craven AC runners and this tradition is continued by the ladies, Sarah O'Sullivan, Sara Abbot, Maisey Bellwood, Tina Cardamone and Emma Dooks who take the medals for KCAC. However big congratulations are due to the men from Wharfedale Harriers who have taken this from Keighley for the for the first time. Well done to Christian Holmes, Marc Sennett, Jack Muir, Ethan Hassel and Alex Thompson. Onto the trophies now and the award for the organisation with the most entries goes to Bingley Juniors Football Club with over 80 participants narrowly pipping rivals Oakworth Juniors. The award for the GP practice with most entries goes to the Bingley Medical Practice for the second year in succession. The fastest team of 5 in the 5K was Bingley Juniors team 13 and the fastest team in the 10K came from Mastab's Restaurant, Skipton. The fastest team from a gym or sports club (excluding running) was the Autoprint Keighley Amateur Boxing Club team 3. Onto fundraising now and the amount raised by the Keighley BigK 10k and 5K for Sue Ryder's care in the local area this year is expected to break the £40,000 mark and this has been greatly helped by the fantastic fundraising of the the following. Our Highest Individual Fundraiser is 8 year old Leo Baker who has raised a brilliant£760. The award for our highest fundraising duo is Andy Long and Stevie Cutler who have raised almost £1950. Our highest fundraising group is team Big Fam who have raised over £2200! Last but certainly not least the award for the organisation that has raised the most goes to Morses Club PLC who have raised a stunning £4,500. Thank you all so much! We will try and present all trophies in the coming week and we'll be in touch about this. Finally we would like to present a massive virtual award to everyone who volunteered for us last Sunday and the people who have delivered over 1000 t-shirts for us this week. Brilliant job everyone thank you!
