Nothing snazzy about it, it’s a box 📦 but it might just be my favourite bit of kit. . . That said I know it’s not for everyone. It’s a huge movement incorporating all the big muscle groups but more often than not it’s the brain that gets in the way. 🧠 🛑 . . When you decide to take the leap, start small. There is an immense amount of coordination involved in propelling yourself off the ground, and all of your mental focus is required to do it safely and effectively. If you doubt your ability to jump, this eats at ability to focus. The more mental focus stolen by your self-doubt, the less focus you have to dedicate to jumping, and then the risk for injury increases. . . Combat this mental component by training your confidence. Start with something you know you can do. If the smallest box is too daunting, then jump on a plate. If that’s too scary, jump on a mat. It may sound silly, but the movements and coordination required to explode onto a mat are identical to the ones that you can use to jump onto a box. . . Keep practicing until you are confident that you can try a higher platform, then step it up! 👣📦
