It is always so hard to say goodbye at Bluebell. We genuinely cherish each and every one of the children who attend and also grow so close to the families. Thank you all so very much for all of the kind words and gifts, we are all so grateful. The graduation ceremony was wonderful with the children singing powerful words and ready for the next part of their journey. I know that I can speak for every member of the Bluebell team that we wish you all the very best and hope that we see you back at holiday club. Have a wonderful Summer everyone! xx

Such wonderful meditation with the children in this busy term with Miss Krystal. We are so excited to announce that Krystal Yoga will be hosting an early morning yoga class for Parents and children. Details to come soon! Having updated our GDPR consents, we will now be posting pictures of the the activities so that you can see the wonderful expressions of fun, concentration, motivation and happiness on these children's faces. A lot of talk of the principles of forest school recently. We pride ourselves in all 6. Principle 1: Forest School is a long-term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment, rather than a one-off visit. Planning, adaptation, observations and reviewing are integral elements of Forest School. Principle 2: Forest School takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world. Principle 3: Forest School aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners. Principle 4: Forest School offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves. 5. Forest School is run by qualified Forest School practitioners who continuously maintain and develop their professional practice. 6. Forest School uses a range of learner-centred processes to create a community for development and learning. Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick and tick with a cherry on the top!

Such lovely friendships have blossomed this month at Bluebell. We found a little vole in the woods which captivated the children. The woods continue to inspire us as we notice more varieties of flowers growing, including pink campions, wood anemones and even wild orchids. On our woodland walks we have been identifying flowers, looking at their colours and shapes. The children have also been reminded about the importance of not picking the flowers. We continue to enjoy campfires, collecting tinder, lighting and toasting marshmallows over the flames. The children have also been working with tools, helping to whittle hazel sticks, used as cooking sticks for the fire. The children are taught how to use sharp tools safely, wearing a protective glove over their non-working hand and ensuring that their elbows are on their knees and the tool is being directed away from them. As we have now had so many small campfires in the woods, the children are well rehearsed in understanding the importance of fire safety – sitting down on a log when the fire is lit as well as walking around the outside of the circle, when making their way to and from the fire. The children have been busy planting in the garden with Miss Nikola, as we have set up tyres filled with compost and nestled flowers inside. Our intention is to attract more bees as well as other insects, such as butterflies to our garden. The children are in charge of ensuring that the flowers are watered regularly. Miss Nikola is also busy growing herbs to put in our other compost bed, which already houses ‘sage’. In the indoor classroom, the children have been encouraged to work on more Montessori specific counting skills with Miss Lesley, using buttons and the Spindle box. They have been focusing on one to one correspondence, as well as recognition of numbers 0-9. It is lovely when a child observes a peer engaging in an activity and asks if they can ‘have a turn’! Children learn so much from watching others.

We are so proud of the children at Bluebell Forest School today for taking part in our Sports Day. We began with the amazing 'Krystal Yoga', who warmed up the children ready for the games. Four teams were then selected with 2 practitioners on each station and the children were cheered on by such supportive parents/grandparents. We then enjoyed a spectacular feast whilst enjoying chatting and getting to know each other better. Thank you to all who came, we missed those who couldn't make it but a fun day, even without the sunshine!

A wonderful first week back after the half term break. The Bluebells are spectacular and the children have glowed whilst playing in the woods this week. So grateful to work in such a beautiful environment with an incredible team and these wonderful little people. x
