Wonderful old colour photo of London
Just a picture of a London bus in 1956, I hear you say? Non bus-nerds need read no further but this is not just any Routemaster! It's RM1 with its original bonnet layout. The prototype RM which now sports the standard RM front is unlikely to regain this original front end again because it originally only had a 7.7 engine which was proved unsuitable and was given a bigger 9.6 engine which wouldn't fit with this front end. The other 3 RM prototypes all had unique front ends but were converted to the standard front end once the design was settled but now in preservation have their original front ends fitted again and look superb. Just a picture of a London bus indeed!
