Around this time of year grass seeds injuries are very common. Small foxtail seeds can get stuck to our pets’ fur and penetrate the skin. We suggest regularly checking over your dogs and cats for grass seeds, particularly around the feet and ears where they commonly become lodged. Common symptoms of a grass seed injury can be shaking head and ears, excessively licking toes, swollen paws, and red lumps on the skin. Call the team at Ashworth on 01252 542121 if you are concerned about grass seeds.
An interesting read in the article listed below... We are seeing more and more ticks on pets & hearing about them attaching to people more every year but this year has been awful for them & by far the worst so far! There are a variety of ways to remove & prevent these horrible creatures so if you have any questions then please ask one of your Ashworth staff for more information on how you can treat and prevent ticks. Lyme's disease in pets is not yet as much of a problem as it is in people but its good to be aware of what is available. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-40973709
