ASPT has recently opened its Studio and Gym facility offering expert advice, guidance and tuition on a healthy lifestyle via one to one sessions, group sessions and exercise classes. ASPT Studio and Gym encourages a whole body conditioning approach to exercise complete with resistance and cardio equipment!
Ally also designs and implements training programmes to suit the individual ranging from first time gym users to experienced athletes. He provides steps to promote a healthy diet, with a nutritional plan, and conduct a range of health and fitness tests to monitor progress.

Why do I lift?! . . . Someone asked me today why I worked out, which got me thinking......why do I lift weights and work out? . . . I’ve grown out of lifting weights for pure asthetics, I used to train with bodybuilding splits but if I’m honest I was the least fit and least flexible I’ve ever been, training took up so much time, 5-6 days per week 90mins plus per day. So I ended up getting so bored with it. Over the past few years I have incorporated big compound lifts to try and improve my whole body strength and my performance in cycling. The bonus is that for vanity reasons I can maintain some kind of aesthetic physique too only training twice per week. . . . My advice to you all is to have a goal in line with what you enjoy and how you like to train. LOVE A PLANK ...... . . . Some trainers don’t rate planks but I think their great. Your core, glutes, back and shoulders all working together to stabilise your spine..... what could be better!! . . . HOWEVER, it’s probably one of the most common exercises performed poorly thus resulting in lack of core engagement and potential lower back discomfort. . . . Here are my coaching cues I use with my clients for a good plank ..... . . ✅ Tuck pelvis under . . ✅ Squeeze glutes (butt) . . ✅ Weight forward . . ✅ Pull belly button up . . ✅ Breath . . The plank position whether on elbows or hands is a very common position to end up in during a number of exercises in our classes, therefore it’s important to recognise how to get into it properly to ensure you are benefitting from the exercise and also reducing the risk of injury!! . . . This week's "CLIENT BIG UP" comes from Lee to...Ally Saville (who?). He's not a client but a colleague, boss and pal. As some of you know I am jetting off to Japan to progress a different type of teaching until March and I'd like to thank Ally for dealing with the added work and stress that comes when a member of staff is lost (for any amount of time) like an absolute boss! Since joining the ASPT family I have been welcomed and feel part of something special, everyone that comes here is constantly upping their game in strength, conditioning, cardio and technical Kettlebell work! This is down to the hard work of all ASPTers obviously but a big shout must go to Ally for providing the challenge, the new and ever changing classes, and the old school dance music. Proud ASPTer!
