St Michael and All Saints is a Scottish Episcopal church. The main worship, which is in the anglo catholic tradition, is every Sunday morning from 11am. We welcome people of all faiths to join us in worship and to take Communion with us at High Mass at 11am on Sundays. In addition we have other services during the week and these are advertised on our website. Our form of worship is often described as "high" due to the rich liturgy, the use of bells and incense, and the rich music that complements the liturgy. It is an often intimate form of worship. We are one of the few churches to provide the full accompaniment to Holy Week leading up to the crucifixion on Good Friday, the Easter Vigil on Saturday evening and the celebration of Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

One of our congregation members, Matthew Coles, tells us why he attends our church: I've been a member of St Michael and All Saints congregation and choir since coming to Edinburgh in 2001. I was drawn to the church by the richness of the liturgy and the manner in which the musical tradition plays an important role in enhancing this. I also value the combination of the celebration of faith with a reflective nature of worship and the spirituality that derives from this." Join us this coming Sunday at 11 am when we shall mark the feast of the Epiphany, and discover for yourself what Matthew means.

Our choir with the Squair Consort of Viols rehearsing for this afternoon's Evensong and Benediction with a veritable feast of Gibbons! We quote Helen Daniell, a Vestry Member at church who produces our pew sheets: 'Wow what a wonderful treat today - Choral Evensong and Benediction! A feast of Gibbons. Thank you to all the musicians, including the Squair Mile Consort and our musical Rector for a magical, mystical moment inthe busy run up to Christmas' Many, many thanks to all who made a wonderful day at our church possible!

This Sunday 11th is Gibbons Day! (unofficially...) Our choir will be singing Gibbons' Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis from the Second Service, as well as This Is the Record of John. We are also delighted to welcome the Squair Mile Consort once more, who will be playing yet more Gibbons music for us! The eagle-eyed among you may notice that this could/should not fit into just one High Mass Service. We are therefore delighted to be holding both High Mass (11am) and Evensong & Benediction (4pm). Finally: our Annual General Meeting will take place immediately after High Mass. Please do join us!
