I am a holistic vet living and working in Forest Row, East Sussex with over twenty years of veterinary experience. I am a holistic vet living and working in Forest Row, East Sussex with over twenty years veterinary experience. I have worked with all types of domestic animals but most of my patients are dogs, cats horses and small animals.

As a holistic vet, I use homeopathy, acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat the patient. I look at the animal as a whole and not just one symptom. If necessary I will use these alternative treatments alongside conventional treatments. I will consider the animal’s health, character, nutrition and lifestyle.

Meet Daisy, she came to us with high anxiety and stress after leaving her home at the breeders to come and train to live with her new forever family. To help with her transition and nerves Birgit worked with her with classical chinese acupuncture to calm her spirit and increase her confidence. We are so proud of Daisy and how quickly we saw an improvement in her behaviour and energy. She had started to toilet inside after her transition which subsided with the acupuncture and she relaxed a lot more in her new environment. She is now with her new family and is full of love, energy and confidence!

Meet Woody, He came to us in May when his owner had noticed him slowing down a little on walks, he also had a small injury to his toe. Birgit has been treating him with regular chinese classical acupuncture and homeopathy and he is now doing well along with hydrotherapy which he loves too. He is a lovely gentle boy and we all enjoy his company at the surgery!

Meet Fonzie... he is 16 years old and came to us a little while ago in February after his owner came back from abroad and Fonzie had become quite weak. He has been having acupuncture, homeopathy and herbs to improve his energy with great results. He is now more lively, playing with his toys, and as you can see from these pictures- with a great big smile on his face!

Birgit has been treating Foggy since last november when he was referred to us where he was quite weak and would lay down after a five minute walk. They were advised by their local vet that Foggy was living on borrowed time and should consider being put to sleep. He had pain in the lumbar spine and Kidney Yin deficiency. Birgit has been treating him with Chinese Acupuncture, Homotoxicology and homeopathy and by December he could walk happily for 20 minutes with a huge change in his energy. Now he will walk for much longer and will actually sit down if he feels that his walk has not been long enough! We could not be happier with the improvement in Foggy, he is so much more full of life and energy and we continue to see this develop.

Last Friday we had the lovely Amy to visit- Amy is a vet also taking the chinese Acupuncture course with Birgit in Holland. She specialises in Rehabilitation and came to work with Birgit for a day. They saw a range of clients together including a horse visit where they saw some great results with a horse Birgit has been treating with the new acupuncture and homotoxicology. I managed to take a few snaps of them in action treating each others dogs inbetween clients!

Meet Paddy- He is a 9 year old Labradoodle who suffered with chronic ear infections and itchy dry skin. After changing his diet back in June to a raw diet and treating the liver with homeopathy I started to see a huge difference already in Paddy- we then gave him Nutramega and remedies for his skin and treated his ears once and for all with fermented probiotic and ear powder. Friends who had known Paddy for years before we started to look after him commented on how great he looked, thriving on his new food and his itching was reduced significantly. He was still itching on occasion which Birgit though was more behavioural- she added a new remedy and after using it that night... Paddy stopped scratching! It is a habit that he has been used to for so long so will once in a while scratch- but now I have the right remedies for him I know how to help him. It is so lovely to see him doing so well and can only thank Birgit for this, she has given him a new lease of life!

Birgit has been treating a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has been diagnosed with Syringomyelia. This is a condition in which fluid-filled cavities develop within the spinal cord near the brain. It is also known as "neck scratcher's disease", because one of its common signs is scratching in the air near the neck. Treatment can be quite limited however over the last 6 months she has been coming to us for acupuncture, traumeel and zeel injections and is doing really well. We have even been able to reduce down the dosage for Gabapentin which treats neuropathic pain. The dog has so much more energy and is doing brilliantly.

Birgit saw this guinea pig for some acupuncture after being paralysed from a fall. Within a short while the client started to see some great results with a little movement in the legs again.
