Croxdale Old School Community Centre
Description
Croxdale Community Centre is a beautiful old school building originally built for the miners children from Croxdale Colliery. It's now run as a charity.
Built in 1882, Croxdale School (now the community centre) has educated hundreds of children over the years. It was originally constructed to accommodate the coal miner's children who worked at the local pit which sat on the west side of the A167 opposite the stone pit terraced cottages.
The community centre is run by local volunteers and is used by all kinds of different groups from a Bridge Club to Salsa and Zumba.
It is also available for hire by anyone interested in using it, either from the local community or further afield. There is a fully licensed bar on the premises, kitchen and cooking facilities and catering contacts for your benefit. Recent events include a 40th Birthday party with live band and a ceilidh Gaelic Folk Music Evening.
If you would like to hire the hall or one of the two rooms (see photos on our facebook page) then please contact Dev on 07957819634

Good morning everyone! It’s safe to say that the Old School Community Centre is doing well due to the hard work of the unpaid volunteers who keep the centre going and act as custodians for this beautiful building for the next generation! Also to all the people in the local community who attend events, functions and support the the continued restoration we are carrying out. Thank you to you all! We are holding a Quiz night this Saturday 14th and it is solely to raise money towards completing the window replacement project. We are nearly there but are short on money to totally complete just now. Everyone is welcome - it’s a pie and pea supper, quiz and raffle. £5 a ticket. Always an excellent night and great craic! With cap in hand, I’m asking anyone who would like to donate prizes for the raffle as this will really help with raising funds towards the completion of the windows. You don’t have to attend the Quiz to donate! Please inbox or call me on 07957819634. Any prizes will be very welcomed. Best wishes, Dev McManus, Chair of the committee 😀
