An update from Sam, sending Sam & Hari all our love, thinking of you always 😘💗💙 Just a little Hari update... it's been a rollercoaster of a week. On the one hand we have been told that Hari's tumour has been eradicated and that the next four months of chemotherapy are to ensure it doesn't come back... it's great news and we really should be celebrating (and we are in our own little ways)... However, the professionals up here at UCLH have also reiterated that the mistakes and negligence he suffered at the hospital where the initial surgery took place have caused damage to the area of his brain which controls coordination and speech and he will need ongoing and long term rehabilitation (even after the six months in this rehabilitation unit) 😞... I have had so many emotions to work through this week and can't begin to imagine how Hari is truly feeling. Hari is a trooper , brave and determined but he rarely shares his feelings, particularly negative ones. The professionals, his oncologist and the neurosurgeon up here, are insisting that I follow an official complaints procedure against Hari's first hospital as they are also instigating one through NHS England and recommend that I do the same on Hari's behalf. As the ongoing chemotherapy can hinder his recovery in the rehabilitation unit I know that I have to ensure Hari has as many opportunities and specialist therapies for as long as possible once they deem him well enough to go home. I really don't like the suing culture prevalent in society today and it is going to be so difficult for me to go back in my heart and mind to those very dark four weeks at the beginning of this journey BUT Hari was badly let down by some decisions made in the initial hospital which have to led life changing complications and neurological damage and I have to fight to get him every opportunity to recover to the upmost of his ability. He has age and remarkable courage on his side but we are going to fight for the financial means to provide a future for him... it's the least he deserves. So the cancer fight is being fought and Hari is winning 👍🏻 now we have a fight for his future too❣️❣️❣️
