A final call for entries for Saturdays painting competition at Artspace Cost: £20 / £10 concessions. Artspace are launching a brand new, exciting, outdoor painting and drawing competition and exhibition. Art in a Day - Forest of Dean - Saturday 15th July 2017 Art in a Day is a brand new event in the Forest of Dean. We are inviting artists from any area, with all levels of experience, to enjoy the exhilarating challenge of creating a piece of art for exhibition - in just one day! From 9am on Saturday July 15th, contestants will be able to register with staff at Artspace, then go and create a piece of work, in a Forest of Dean Location of their choosing. All artwork must be returned to Artspace by 5pm prompt. Work will be hung and the 'Art in a Day' exhibition will then be open to the public, the same evening, from 7.30pm. Our main event will be on Wednesday 21st June 2017, at Beechenhurst, Mallards Pike and Cannop. Two Rivers Holiday Club in Cinderford!

Dear Friends of Artspace, Come and join us at 2pm on Monday 10th April, to enjoy the highly anticipated performance of 'Strictly Grease' by Nina Kirkwood's 'Discover Drama' class. Refreshments available. The performance is free, but donations are gratefully received (and any donations made to the charity are matched pound for pound by the Arts Council!)

Messy fun activities for children at Artspace! We have a new addition to our regular activities for children that was not included in our recent programme/brochure. Our Young Artists Club is returning to its regular slot, 4-5pm on Tuesdays. Fun, messy art activities with clay, paint, glitter, glue and more! The group is aimed at 5-8 year olds, but under 5's are very welcome to join in if they are accompanied by an adult. Saturday 24th September 2016, 10:00am - 4:30pm Bring along that pocketful of beach finds you picked up on your summer holiday, learn a simple watercolour technique and take home your own framed, watercolour and collage picture. Cost: £42. All materials will be provided, including tea and cake and spare seaside treasures. Please bring a packed lunch.

Please contact sue@artspacecinderford.org to book Autumnal Mug Rug (A mini quilt) with Simmi Duffin Saturday 10th September 2016, 10:30am - 4:30pm A fun day full of new techniques and ideas, this session will show you the basics of quilt making and applique. Putting these two ideas together we will create a mug rug, which is larger than a coaster but smaller than a placemat (ideal for a well-earned cuppa and some biccies!) The base of the rug will be 8 quilted squares of cotton material with an autumnal themed felt image appliqued on top. The whole rug will then be hand quilted to add some depth and finished with a bias binding. You will learn some hand sewing techniques and learn which bits can be machine sewn too. If you have a sewing machine you would like to bring along, please feel free, but it is not necessary. Cost: £39. All materials will be provided although you will need to bring a basic sewing kit – needles, pins, scissors, etc. Please bring a packed lunch.

Our new programme of activities for September 2016 is out now! We now have an even bigger variety of activities for you to choose from – including new Adult Education courses in Wirework, Graphics and Illustration and Fun with 3D. We have some new courses inspired by the Art Deco period, the Egyptians and nature. We are offering some new independent workshops, including Mixed Media Drawing, and, we are thrilled to announce, our first ever Circus workshop aimed at the over 50’s! If you work during the day, or are unable to commit to a 9 week course, why not come along to one of our Saturday workshops? We also have some brand new provision for young people, including a dance class and Tiddly Tops circus for the under 5’s. Our programme is bursting with new and exciting courses – there is something creative for everyone at Artspace this coming term.
