Oliver Award: Best Indian Restaurant 2014 Prashad is an award winning, family run Indian vegetarian restaurant in the heart of Drighlington. Our aim is to give you a unique culinary experience consisting of the highest quality, lovingly made Gujurati and North Indian vegetarian food, served in an intimate and welcoming environment by knowledgeable, intuitive and friendly staff.
At Prashad (meaning blessed food), our highly experienced and passionate chefs bring you authentic, ‘home style’ vegetarian cuisine from Gujarat, Punjab and South India handed down through the generations.
Our menu has been designed to introduce your palette to new tastes, flavours and textures using age old techniques, from the best ‘roadside snacks’ to richer, more robust dishes.
Prashad favourites include our famous Gujarati street-food Chaat, known for being the best in the UK, and our South Indian Massala Dosa, which we have spent years perfecting and now boast the best recipe outside of Kerala (the secret is in the dough preparation!) Alongside these classics, we have a number of ever-changing specials, made with locally-sourced, seasonal produce.
Kaushy Patel, founder of Prashad, is the author of two well established cookery books showcasing the best of Indian vegetarian cuisine. The chefs at Prashad try to bring alive this culture in every lovingly-made dish – and the prestigious awards we have won recently are a testament to this:
- Two Star AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence
- The Michelin Guide
- The Good Food Guide
- Morrisons Magazine Great Grub Award 2013
- Yorkshire Life Chef of the Year 2013
- Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand 2014
- Yorkshire Evening Post Oliver Awards Best Indian Restaurant 2014.
- TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence (Last 6 years running)

Although Fathers day is celebrated in many countries across the world, it only became commonplace in the USA c 100 years ago. According to the Daily Mirror, the average Father spends 27 years of their life on DIY projects for the family and four hours per week as a taxi driver. Apparently, if the services of a Father were added up... it would attract a salary of £67,000 per year! If this sounds too expensive... then you could just buy him lunch or dinner at Prashad on June 18th ! http://www.prashad.co.uk/

A massive thanks to the team at Suma for their generosity. Delighted to receive a cheque today for £2611.06 for the Gujarati Community Centre. Early this year we cooked for the team at Suma, and all the staff each made a donation to the charity. Suma then matched this donation. An amazing amount of money that will make a huge difference.
