Starting this January, our new art course London Calling: Art Treasures of London will explore a wide variety of major masterpieces, all of which can be found in London’s most significant galleries. Keith Honeyman and Bridget Peachey have been in Partners in Art for many years and can frequently be seen in the local harbour and wetlands areas painting together on one canvas. David Bomberg painted this view of war-scarred London whilst working as a firewatcher during WW2. He climbed to the top of a church in Cheapside to view St Paul's Cathedral - a cherished symbol of national resilience throughout the war and an apt metaphor for Bomberg's own artistic resilience during the difficult wartime years. Bomberg served in the trenches during WWI and in both wars attempted to secure artistic commissions, only to have his efforts rejected.

Join us next Thursday for a film screening of the award-winning documentary Paula Rego: Secrets and Stories. This intimate portrait of the life and work of the artist Paula Rego was directed by her son Nick Willing who will take part in a Q&A session after the screening.
