National Trust Hardwick
Description
Welcome to Hardwick, whose stunning houses and beautiful landscape have been created by a cast of thousands. Find out what you can discover at Hardwick by visiting www.nationaltrust.org.uk/hardwick It was the formidable Bess of Hardwick who first created Hardwick in the late 1500s.
In the centuries since then her descendants, farmers, gardeners, builders, decorators, embroiderers and craftsmen of all kinds have contributed and made Hardwick their creation.
We want you to explore and enjoy Hardwick and in the process discover the lives, loves and adventures of the creators of Hardwick.

Our Wildlife Watch group were absolutely thrilled to receive this highly commended certificate from The Wildlife Trusts for their recent entry in the Wildlife Watch group of the year awards. They met just over a week ago and were lucky enough to be joined by 2 local bird ringers who ringed 65 birds in 2 hours! Children took part by carrying out the incredibly important role of letting the birds go afterwards. Why not pick up a bird spotting sheet from the Park Centre or Visitor Reception Building and tick off the birds you see on your next visit?
There might have been a little glimpse of spring today! And just in time for Mother's Day, this Sunday 11 March... We've all the ingredients for a day out to say thank you to the special ladies in our lives: treasures to discover inside and out, a good dose of fun and fresh air, a dash of peace and quiet (if desired), bursts of colour, and some yummy food from the new season menu in the Great Barn Restaurant. Oh, and don't forget, if you're looking for a gift the shop has all sorts of goodies too. Image: National Trust Images / John Millar

The Hardwick estate will be open between 11am and 3pm today, due to the weather the opening of the Hall and Gardens will be limited. Please take care when driving and walking on the estate as it is still rather snowy and icy.
The Outdoors team has been hard at work in the icy weather today, clearing snow from the car park and roads around the estate. Our woolly residents don’t seem to mind it! We’re hoping to be open again tomorrow, but more snow is forecast for this evening so please check here or on our website before you travel
