///UWE English x The English Society Presents: UWE's second official poetry slam/// If you're interested in taking part, please email Sarah Robertson at: Sarah.Robertson@uwe.ac.uk by Friday the 20th of January. Organised by the English Department, UWE's second on-campus poetry slam is taking place at the SU Engagement Space (SU 1) on Tuesday 24th January - £20 prize for the winner! This will be judged by two member of the UWE English department, and an English Society committee member. Judges are: Sam Rogers, Robin Jarvis, and Aaron Simpson. Contestants can compete from all disciplines and courses. This is a prelimiary round to choose a team for for the Varsity Slam, in which a UWE Slam Team will compete against University of Bath, Bath Spa and possibly University of Bristol. This will take place on Wednesday 8th February from 19:00 in the UWE SU Bar. Come watch or take part - the slam last academic year was great fun, so save the date(s)!!!

PHD student Ewan Wright has asked if anyone would be interested in taking part in his study. Easy way to make £20 and help out a fellow student! UWE Ethics Research Committee has approved the study. Recruiting third-year English students for a PhD project – earn 20 pounds in one hour! The research is investigating (1) motivations for attending university, (2) experiences at university, and (3) tentative plans for after university. This will consist of a 40-45 minute chat and a ten minute questionnaire. I am offering 20 pounds to each participant as a thank you.
