Woodhouse Grove School
Description
Woodhouse Grove School, and its preparatory junior school Brontë House, is an independent, coeducational, day and boarding public school and Sixth Form college in Apperley Bridge, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England for children aged between 3 and 18. Founded in 1812 by the Methodist Conference for the education of the sons of ministers, The Grove now welcomes pupils and staff of all denominations and none.
Rooted in traditions which have stood the test of time, we are nevertheless flexible enough to meet changing demands and to look to the future. In recent years the school has grown (now 750 in the senior school from age 11) but we are still small enough for all pupils to be known well and to make their mark.

"At Woodhouse Grove, we have always had a proud sporting heritage – but the progress of our netballers over the past few years has been exceptional. If netball is your sport, Woodhouse Grove is certainly the place to come! We are tremendously proud of the well-deserved success of our winning teams but I am equally delighted to see girls of all abilities enjoying the sport across every year group – and enjoying the opportunities the sport offers. Our seniors are just about to go on netball tour to New York and the Caribbean – it doesn’t get better than that!" I am the very best of me I am Grovian Miss Thompson, Head of Netball
It's International Day of Happiness! Here are some wise and uplifting words from our Chaplain, Dave Bonny, on the Grovian Values of being Inquisitive & Curious - and the joy that they can bring.
Congratulations to the mighty U16 Netball team who have made Grove Netball history at the England School National Finals by reaching the semi-finals & officially being 4th best team in the country. Unfortunately they were beaten 11-8 in the semi final by St Monica’s who went on to win the tournament. The school are incredibly proud of the hard work and team spirit shown by the girls and their coaches. Also huge thanks to the Grove Supporters Club who travelled down to watch the tournament. #Iamgrovian
Well done boys! Grovian grit and determination saw our U18s emerge victorious as winners of the Natwest Schools' National Plate. I am an individual...yet I am part of something incredible. I am Grovian.

Fantastic results coming in from the Y6 Sports tour to Newcastle..... The boys drew 35 all against RGS Newcastle with Sam Batty scoring a hat trick. The girls teams both had a great day at the Newcastle Girls High School Invitational North of England Tournament, with the A team winning the whole tournament! Report coming in from a parent that the girls played like "lionesses" in the final! #truegrovians #grovesport #wishwehadcome
If you have not set off please stay at home, roads are not safe to travel. School will be open for those who have started their journey. But if it it nearer to go home please do. No school buses are running. GCSE PE moderation cancelled. Bronte House Y5 trip has been cancelled. Bronte House Y6 Sports Tour - too early to make decision - currently no Fourways buses are operating.
Despite the disruption caused this week, we have some great photos on our flickr pages of the children enjoying the snow. At Brontë House the children had great fun; snowball fights with Mr Dunn & the other teachers; sledging on real and home made sledges (bin bags are surprisingly effective!) and building a quinzhee (like an igloo). Y9 had great fun in the snow, but in Andorra in the New Year! All photos can be viewed by clicking the link below. https://www.flickr.com/photos/woodhousegrove/albums
