Bringing Mercedes G Wagens back to life and up to date .. Taking W460 G-Wagens  ... changing them from tired slow and tatty .... to fresh, fast and stylish I first got involved with Mercedes G Wagens  when I was looking for a cool vehicle with bomb proof reliability and no complicated electronics to drag me back to the dealership to be plugged into their computer every time there's a light on the dash
I bought myself a 1990 300GD Long wheelbase in 2011 from an estate in Stirlingshire, it was in a very sorry state, but 2 years and quite a few quid later I have a super smart modern looking G.
Being so pleased with how my G turned out and and being really impressed with the technology and build quality that goes into G wagens I decided other people should be able to experience what Gs have to offer, s o here we are turning 80s G Wagens into motors you'd want to own.
We strip them down to a bare chassis, we discard the dated slow engine and gearbox and everything that's rusted, broken, and not working
We then start the rebuild repainting and repairing everything as we go, the engine is replaced with a powerful 24 valve turbo diesel from a mercedes E-Class pushing out just over 200 horsepower (oringinal has 88) coupled to a Mercedes 6 speed gearbox.
The body is repaired, any replacement panels are genuine Mercedes, expensive but they always fit properly. Other bits and peices are 18" alloy wheels  instead of the skinny steel wheels that look lost in the wheel arches.

We can also specify remote central locking & Imobiliser, electric windows, side steps, in fact whatever you fancy if we can do it we will.
If you fancy owning a G that's cool and reliable but doesn't have the £82000 price tag that new ones have, get in touch

Our latest 606 engine installation, the brief we were given was to make the customers G drive smooth and tight. It's used for carrying guests on an estate shoot so no loud side exhausts or jumpy automatic gearbox. From my point of view I always want our installs to look like they came from the factory Hope you like

Here are a few photos of or latest build, I found a very rusty 1981 280GE LWB when the club were having our get together at George Freemans sand & gravel quarry near Peterborough, I managed to do a deal with George and rescue the G from it's fate. There never was a plan to restore this as is because the body had mostly dissolved, so we're going to make it into a two door pickup. The final spec will include an OM606 engine set at 220HP, six speed manual gears, High ratio axles and disks on the rear axle. another possibility is a high capacity alloy fuel tank. I'm still to decide whether the styling will be 460 or 463. I managed to get hold of three cabs from a dealer in Holland so a couple of days in Delft and a visit to the windmills at Kinderdyke and back on the ferry to Hull. So to work, we stripped the G back to parts saving everthing we could including the bulkhead to convert the cab from left to right hand drive. The remains of the rust was weighed in and we sandblasted the chassis. The chassis hasn't got away from the tin worms completely and needed some remedial work. this included front body mounts all the rear suspension mounts, and a repair on the rear tube. The next step is to make the chassis longer to take a Landrover 110 pick up body bought brand new off eBay More to follow, Gordon
