All babies are offered a newborn screening test (blood spot test) between day 5 and day 8 of birth. This test screens for 9 rare but serious conditions. At Blackburn Birth Centre we are always looking at ways we can expand our knowledge and develop our practice to ensure we provide the absolute best service possible to the women babies and families in our care, so yesterday our Maternity Assistants that work in our newborn screening test clinics along with Lead Midwife Jenny Craddock have spent the day at St Mary's Genetics Lab having a tour of the lab and a breakdown of what happens to the blood spot samples during the screening process.

We are incredibly grateful and overwhelmed by the support and generosity of people and would like to thank the customers of Morrisons Blackburn for their amazing generosity on Sunday 5th of May 2019, when our Midwives took part in a bag pack at the store to raise money for new furniture in our birth rooms. We raised an amazing £507.55. Thankyou so much to everyone who donated and to Morrison's for your support xxx ELHT&me #IDM2019
