My photo-a-day for day 1 of lent (the 40 days plus Sundays, so 46 in actuality, that lead us up to Easter) is to be entitled GATHER. I am keeping this word at the forefront of my mind as I do endeavour, bible study, go visiting and attend rotary this evening. I'm sure I can take a photo or two that could be entitled GATHER. Are you joining in? Feel free to post your gathering pictures today.

Yesterday at Basildon Salvation Army we launched the self denial appeal. I also like to do something daily through lent which begins on Wednesday, so, for the last few years, I take something up for lent (sacrificing time) and sacrifice something material for self denial. My Friday Night snacks are being given up (along with all the other unhealthy snacks I often buy on impulse) for self denial (the monies from these savings go to the international work of the Salvation Army) and from Wednesday I will be taking part in a photography challenge through lent. (See photo) if you'd like to join me please post photographs on this page to bless others.

Tomorrow we begin worship in prayer at 10am before family worship at 10:30 during which we will launch the self denial appeal (a time in which we give up something and put the money toward the overseas mission of The Salvation Army) which will run through February. I will then be grabbing some lunch before heading to do the meeting at Stanford-Le-Hope at 3pm.

Thank to all who supported and helped to make today a blessing. Gathering this morning to consider our sending out to build on sure foundations was a blessing. Tonight was lovely to gather with the band (a real treat :) ) to sing through the decades and spend time over a light tea sharing memories and looking through the history book reminiscing and giggling at all the old pictures. Great community building. Great kingdom building. xxxx

Fantastic morning starting with prayer meeting at 10am which is so special (for me anyhow) already! A time to come aside and start right on a Sunday morning, praying that the spirit of God will work in and through our church people. Cadets Helen and Barry spoke eloquently of their journey and calling. Barry blessed us with a testimony song too. It was lovely to meet with the whole family today. With 37 in the meeting we almost needed to put out more chairs and looking round at that congregation I was blessed to know of the journeys that so many of us are traveling. It's exciting to be part of the Kingdom of God in Basildon! Let us help build it more and more! #mobilisinganarmy!

Good Morning!! Just a reminder that we start a little earlier than usual now with our prayer meeting at 10am. This morning we have VIP visitors Cadets Barry and Helen Dickson with their children Bethany, Tobias and Josef. They will be taking part in the meeting this morning as a little introduction before 'taking the reigns' on Sunday 14th February. Cadets are ministers in training and in this, their first year, Basildon Salvation Army is their preaching (& pastoral) placement which is entitled Communicating with People".
