The Gone Too Soon group supports parents who have lost a child of any age and circumstances, whether it was recent or some time ago. It gives the opportunity for parents to come together, to talk to people who understand and can relate to how it feels to lose a child as it is a very isolating place to be. Lyn Currie leads this group and decided she would organise an afternoon tea at her home to the families of her bereavement support group, raising £300 for us! There’s not long to go until our memory walk, St. Luke’s to Luke’s Walk, takes place on Sunday 6 October. Last year we had hundreds of families join us to remember a loved one as we walked from our Hospice in Basildon to our satellite site in Corringham taking the scenic route through Langdon Hills Country Park. The route is 5 miles (Basildon to Corringham) and fully marshalled. At mile 5 you’ll have the chance to rest and enjoy a complimentary cream tea! For those who want to end the walk at this point, there will be transport available to take you back to our Hospice in Basildon. Those who want to complete the 10 mile route can do this after their cream tea. Every walker will receive a brand new shiny medal! So, why not bring the whole family? It’s a way to be active as a family while remembering a loved one and supporting your local hospice. To sign up, head to https://bit.ly/2KqnPAK
